Olive Olga Milne

Olive Olga Milne, aged 97 years, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2018 after a brief illness at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK. Olive was born on March 2, 1920 in Cutknife, SK where her parents farmed and she and her siblings attended the nearby Wembley School. Later she moved to Saskatoon, SK where she met her husband, William ‘Bill’ Milne, marrying in 1943. In 1954, they moved to Liberty, SK where they made their long-term home. Olive became an active member of the community; she and Bill owned the butcher shop and later became postmasters. In retirement, she was the SGI license issuer. A dedicated sports fan, Olive enjoyed curling and loved Saskatchewan Roughrider games. Bill predeceased Olive in 1996. She was also predeceased by her parents Danylo and Maria (nee Rak) Hyshka; brothers Michael (Irene), Walter (Jessie), and Bill; brother-in-law Sebastian Kist; and nephew Wayne Kist. She is survived by her sister Mary Kist; nieces and nephews Jane (Bob) Scott, Marvin Kist, Greg (Theresa) Hyshka, Gail (Brian) Peterson, Bill Hyshka, Lynn Hyshka, John (Sheila) Hyshka; great-nieces Angela and Heather Scott, Taylor and Blair Hyshka, and Julie and Katharine Cheveldayoff. On February 13, 2018 interment was held in Liberty Cemetery officiated by Rev. Karl Shin and followed by a memorial tea. Donations in Olive’s memory to the Liberty Memorial Hall are gratefully appreciated.
