Gregory Laurence Patterson
June 21st, 2018
It is with profound sadness that the family of Gregory Laurence Patterson announce his sudden but peaceful passing on Thursday, June 21, 2018 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Greg had just celebrated his 50th birthday in May. Greg will be deeply missed by his life partner Lana Davies, who was his true love and his precious dog Oscar, who was the centre of his world; his loving and devoted parents Laurence (Larry) and Maureen (Chabinyc) Patterson; his sister Lara (Jeff); and his nephews Kobe and Cooper Lelond. Greg will also be fondly remembered by his aunts and uncles; cousins; and nieces and nephews on Lana's side - Jody, Dryden, Avia, Dawson, Gavin, Preston, Nolan, Kelsey and Kolby; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Greg was predeceased by his grandparents Peter and Helen Chabinyc; Bob and Flo Patterson; and by Lana’s parents Lyall and Andrea (Andrews) Davies.
Greg was born on May 13, 1968 at the New Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He grew up in Winnipeg and attended Maples High School. In 1986, his family moved to Regina where he started his job in the audio visual (AV) industry as a technician. Over the course of his 30+ year career, Greg became well-known and was often asked for by name. Most recently, and for the majority of this time, he was employed with Inland Audio Visual. Many lifelong friendships were created through his work.
Greg was passionate and extreme about the things he loved. As a sports fanatic, he tracked meticulous details and closely followed hockey (a Winnipeg Jets fan), NFL, Nascar, Tour de France, and more. His greatest sports passion of all was cycling. As an avid cyclist, he owned three bikes, his favourite being a road bike. His personal drive and self-competitiveness were unprecedented. With each ride, Greg demanded excellence of himself as he continuously set and surpassed his cycling goals. Greg’s attention to detail was evident in many other areas including electronics, technology, cars and bass guitar, to name a few. The same attention was given to his everyday living and household responsibilities. Greg was typically a quiet guy but he could talk your ear off if it was about something that he loved!
Greg was very respectful and dedicated to his family. He loved his parents dearly. He had the utmost respect for his dad and adored his mom. He looked forward to his regular trips to visit his parents in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and enjoyed time at Good Spirit Lake with the Davies family. Greg formed special bonds with Lana’s siblings, Brock (‘bro’) and Lynn. He also enjoyed the time he spent with Clark & Janice and Carman & Dinalle and their families over the past several years.
Ultimately, there was no place that Greg would rather be than at home with Lana and Oscar. His heart belonged to both. He was very appreciative of Lana’s cooking and for all the things she did for him. Greg wasn’t the typical handyman but was always helpful around the house. He believed there was nothing that couldn’t be fixed with duct tape. He was truly the ‘man of the house’. Oscar was Greg’s pride and joy and the two were inseparable. Greg lived life to the fullest and always cherished the simple things… he would never say no to a burger and beer. What Lana will miss most of all are all the little things he did for her and how he made her feel.
Greg will always be remembered as a kind and gentle soul.
Life is a journey, enjoy the ride.

Dear Lana, We are deeply saddened with the news Greg has passed away! He was a true professional and a testimony to his character and dedication, he was often asked by our clients, to manage their project from start to finish! Prayers for you and Greg's family.
So sorry to hear of Greg's passing. Far too young. I worked with Greg and Larry in the '80's at Inland. My heart goes out to all of you. God's speed Greg.
Greg worked for me at Nagel’s AV in the 90’s. Greg was a great guy and a dedicated tech. Greg never complained about long hours and was always there when you needed him. Sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to all his family.

Hi Lana, I am going to miss having Greg come and sit in my office to get away from the loud voices in the warehouse and our chats that we had about anything that was on his mind. He was a great tech and someone that I could depend on to run a show for us. I could always go to Greg and ask him what we did at a show and he would remember every detail and that was a big help to me. We will never be able to replace him here at Inland as he was one of a kind AV Technician. God bless you and please know that we all care deeply about you and all that you have had to go through this past week with Greg's passing. I am so happy he was able to spend his life with you and that you had each other. Please call us here at Inland if you ever need anything.
Lana, I'm so incredibly sorry to hear about your sudden loss. Please know that I am thinking of you and truly wish you my deepest sympathies. Take care of yourself.
I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Greg's passing. He was a great cousin and friend who I have countless fond memories of growing up in Winnipeg. We had many shared interests such as sports, music and fixing things with duct tape as well as a love for family and animals. Lana you have my deepest condolences as well as from wife Bridget and her family. Also condolences to my Auntie Maureen, Uncle Larry, Lara, and the rest of the family and friends. I will always remember Greg and miss him every day. RIP Greg!

Lana: I know we have not seen one another for years, but I do think of you often and am so saddened to hear of Greg's passing. Life is simply not fair sometimes and yet I hope your memories of your time together will bring you some comfort and peace as time moves on. Please lean on anyone and everyone who offers you support. I know how independent you are and this sometimes is a very tough thing to do. However, speaking from my own experiences, these friends and family will help you through this. Sending prayers, hugs and comfort from away.

Dear Lana, I never knew Greg, other than through your stories of him. I am sorry that time/life simply didn't permit time and opportunity for that experience, but I feel privileged to have shared a small part of him through you. Grief can at times be a whirlwind of emotion, and as a result, it is often messy. I wish I had the right words to help ease your burdens right now, even for a little bit, but please know that I care deeply about you and that I am here for you, at any time. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you want to, and know that while I would never intrude, the offer is there for you, as am I, anytime you need someone to lean on. You and yours are in my heart and prayers.
Lana, I am deeply saddened by your sudden loss and offer my condolences to you and your family during this difficult time. Warm hugs to you. I'm so very sorry.
