It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Art Evans on March 19, 2019, at 84 years of age. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Irene of 65 years; sons Terry, Larry (Deb), and Wayne (Cathy); daughter Barbara (Ken); grandchildren Scott, Riley (Amber), Steve (Erin), Leia (Ty), Kirk, Kyle, Amy, Zach, Dan (Erin), and Joey; as well as great-grandchildren Zander, Lincoln and Elena. Art was predeceased by his parents Llewellyn and Margaret and his brothers Llewellyn and Lester. He is survived by his brother Robert (Bob) and many nieces and nephews. Art loved his sports, especially fishing, hockey, golf and shuffleboard. He will be remembered as a founding member of the Saskatchewan Shuffleboard Association. His achievements included two Canadian Championships (doubles 1968 and singles 1974) with many Provincial titles. In 2007 he was inducted into the Canadian Shuffleboard Congress Hall of Fame, recognized as a founder, player, mentor and teacher. He was a Regina Pats season ticket holder for 40 years. Art was born in Edmonton, Alberta. His work in Management with Met Stores took him to many cities across Western Canada. He loved his career change when he transitioned to work with the Saskatchewan Department of Highways where he retired in 1994. We wish to thank the staff at Homecare, Pioneer Village Adult Day Program, the General Hospital Cardiac Unit and Parkside Extendicare for their great care, dedication, and support for Art. To abide by Art’s wishes, there will be no funeral or service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Messages:

It is with great sadness that I learn of the passing of Uncle Art. My heartfelt thoughts to Auntie Irene and the family.

To Irene and families, so sorry to hear of the news of Art's passing. Marnie and I send our condolences and love.

Dear Irene & Family Olga & I wish to express our sincere condolences. Art was a good friend of ours. I have fond memories of the many times we golfed together, especially the trips to Waskesiu, and of course all the Shuffleboard events. Art will be missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

It is with great sadness that I heard of Art’s passing. Barbara and I wish to pass our condolances to Irene and family. Art was a truely special individual . He was a people person and had an uncanny knack for assessing character by observation of how someone acted and what they said. Art could always be counted on to provide a phylisophical view on any topic. He was always kind and understanding and will surely missed by every one who was fortunate to know him. Rest easy Art.

Our condolences to Art's family...great memories of our time with Sask Highways in the Swift Current area.

Irene,Barb and Boys, Our sincere sympathy in your loss. Another good neighbor gone! Thinking of you. Ann Patterson and family
