Frederick Lorne Hill
May 31st, 2019
Fred passed away at the Regina General Hospital on May 31, 2019 at the age of 69 years with his family at his side.
Fred was born in Maryfield, SK on December 15, 1949. He was raised on the family farm at Mair, SK and eventually took over the farm as his chosen career.
His elementary schooling was received at Plainsville Country School and he then attended Maryfield for his high school.
He married Donna Higgins in 1969. They had two children Sheldon and Kerri. Fred and Donna separated and later divorced.
In 1994 he met Darlene Tripp. They resided on the farm until the time of his passing.
Fred was a man with a big heart and an incredible sense of pride and dignity. He was a committed man who worked hard at any job he undertook. If a helping hand was needed, he was one of the first to offer his assistance.
The door was always open at Fred’s for anyone who visited or wanted a good old argument. He cherished each and every one of his family and friends.
Being a farmer; he enjoyed his wide-open spaces, often he sat on his deck admiring sun rises, sunsets and the splendor of nature.
Fred’s greatest love was his family; especially his grandchildren. He always had time for one on the tractor with him, teaching them all he knew and loved about farming.
During his younger years Fred participated in 4-H Calf Club, track and field and a bit of ball. He wasn’t much for sports but liked to hunt. He passed his enjoyment of this activity onto his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed pushing bush for grandkids when they hunted.
He enjoyed playing and watching curling as well as fishing. He was a huge fan of any sports his grandchildren participated in.
Fred sat as a member of Maryfield Villa Board for several years and as a counselor for 12 years for the RM of Walpole #92.
Fred was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Margaret (Dunn); brother Douglas; niece Alysa Hill and brother-in-law Bill Haussecker.
Fred is survived by his common-law wife Darlene; son Sheldon (Kim); daughter Kerri (Todd), Skylynn, Kirklan, Levi, Harley and Everlee; stepsons Scott (Shawna) Fynnleigh, Rorry and Maaclan; Stephen (Kimberly) Hailey, Jayda and Kempton; Kris, Hunter, Shaelan and Logan; Curtis (Chelsea) Poppy and Crosson; sisters Christina Haussecker (Larry); Jackline Rutledge (Butch); brothers Robert (Freda); David (Nora); Gerald (Brenda) and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a private family service at Mair Cemetery.

Although I did not know Fred, I know some of his family and neighbors. A loss such as this is difficult for one relatively young. Sounds like he enjoyed life even if it was cut short.. I hope every sunset or sunrise triggers a memory for you of this special man in your lives.
