Robert Makellky passed away peacefully with family by his side on January 31, 2019 at the age of 95. He was predeceased by his wife Marion; parents Peter and Katherine Makellky; sisters Margaret Olheiser (Emanuel), Mary Ludwig (Herb), Katherine Ludwig (Louis), and Elizabeth Desjardins (Jerry); brothers Bernard (Hilda), Dan, and brother- in-law Bill Moldovan. Robert is survived by his sister Francis Moldovan; his children Neal (Jan), Greg (Becky), Glenda Louis (Brad), and Deb Klassen (Tim); grandchildren Tiffany Haraldson (Michael), Alexis Campbell (Dillon children Sidney and Izzy), Justin Makellky (Deanne children Vincent, Theo and Charlotte), Stephanie Makellky (children Leneva, Elizavet and Hadassah), Kalvin Makellky (Amy), Kristen Louis (Chris Dodd), Andrea Birchard (Greg children Kadence, Cameron and Joey), Derek Louis (Sarah child Tom).

Robert and Marion were married in 1953. They farmed at the old homestead north of Estevan. In 1968 they bought a farm at Manor and remained there until they moved to Regina in 1974. Dad worked at IPSCO until he retired in 1988. During his retirement years, he liked to tinker in his garage and garden shed. He would even sometimes disassemble an appliance of Mom’s, believing that he could make it work better. He also loved to sample Mom’s baking and would frequently remind her that the freezer was getting low on goodies. Dad also loved to visit and go for coffee at the mall with the “old boys” as he called them. He also spent a lot of time tending to the garden with Mom. Thank you to all the staff at Sunset Extendicare for your care and compassion during Dad’s time there.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in Holy Child Parish, 2636 – 7th Avenue East, Regina, SK. Private family interment in Regina Memorial Gardens.
