Eleanor Mae Pletz
November 8th, 2019
On Friday, November 8, 2019 Jesus saw that Eleanor was getting tired and wrapped his arms around her and took her home to be with her beloved Allan.
Eleanor will forever be in our hearts. Her memories will be cherished by her children Larry (Sonya), Garry (Sharon), Bev (Rob) Deglau, and Greg (Angie); grandchildren Nicole, Ashley, Nathan, Matthew, Wesley, Bradley, Meghann, Kalvin and Nisa; great-grandchildren Austin, Cody, Alexa, Noelle and Max. She will be sadly missed by her sister Doreen (Leon) and brothers Jim (Carlyn), Leonard (Sheila) and John; brothers-in-law Ray, Jim (Jeannie) and sister-in-law Gen. Eleanor will also be reunited with her brother Bob, sisters-in-law Judy and Shirley, and nephews Roddy and Dion.
Eleanor was born to John and Wilma Weikum on August 3, 1934 and was raised on the family farm in Qu’Appelle, SK. On July 3, 1956 she married her true love Allan Pletz. They began their journey together in Regina where they made a home for themselves and their children. Eleanor was a wonderful wife and mother putting her family before herself and all else.
Eleanor was a happy, fun-loving, kind lady who enjoyed helping others. She was an elementary school teacher with the Regina Catholic School Division. Mom truly did what she loved and loved what she did. She had a passion for learning not only for herself but also for others.
The family is grateful for Monica, Maria and the caregivers at Gardiner Point Care Home for the exceptional care, compassion and most of all the love they showed to Mom.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 100 Argyle Street N., Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make donations to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan in Eleanor’s name.
Messages:
Before moving to Regina after marrying Allan, Miss Weikum taught elementary school in Lipton, Sk. In 1956 she was my grade 4 teacher and excellent she was. She remains a favourite teacher. The family farm on which Allan was reared was was in close proximity to our own farm. A variety of PLETZ families lived in the district. Through the years there were chance meetings with Allan and Eleanor and short visits in department stores where many of the chance meetings occurred. In 1993 I was in the second year of the Lay Ministry Formation Program sponsored by the Regina Archdiocese. Allan & Eleanor were in the 3rd and final year of the program. Both 2nd & 3rd years had their weekends together. That year was the most time shared with Eleanor and Allan since 1956. It meant very much to me. Bev you drove your mother to a funeral in Lebret with interment and a lunch in Lipton. This was for a family friend and farm neighbour. So to all Eleanor’s family I’m sorry for your loss and offer sincere condolences. She is now free from pain and suffering and safe in the arms of Jesus. Sincerely. Richard Mantyak

Please accept our sincere condolence on the passing of Eleanore. II had the pleasure of getting to know her during the last three years while she was a client in the care home. While I tried to supply some entertainment to the clients I was able to share many great personal conversations with Eleanore. It is with sadness that she is gone, it is with joy knowing the lord will keep her wrapped in his arms. We will miss you Eleanore. Ed & Hilda staudt
So sorry for the loss of your dear mum. Our thoughts are with you Greg and all your family. All our love Moira and John and family xx
Eleanor was truly a blessing to know and love. Leonard has always loved his big sister, looking forward to visiting her ànd Alan whenever he came home. Thank you, Eleanor, for showing me how to cook some of the German dishes that Leonard would reminisce about over the years. We will all miss you because you loved all your family dearly. Rest in peace dear sister.
My condolences to each of you as you mourn the passing of such a wonderful person. I will never forget Auntie Eleanor's contagious smile and laugh. Whenever I was near her I felt a warmth that I can only describe as soothing. It was impossible to be unhappy when her and Uncle Allan were in the room. Rest easy beautiful lady. It was a blessing to have been part of your life on earth. I look forward to seeing your smile again one day.
Dear Larry, Garry, Bev, Greg and families, I have such fond memories of visiting your family when I was growing up. Your Mom always provided us with lots of hugs, laughter, and delicious food! She was a very special woman, and I'm so sorry for your loss.
