Predeceased by her husband Robert Sachs; her sister Rosemary Russell; nephew Christopher Russell (Brownvale, AB); brothers John Wadel (Teeswater, ON), Raymond Wadel (Bayfield, ON), and Terrence Wadel (Kitchener, ON).

She is survived by her brother James (Sharon) Wadel, (Didsbury, AB); sisters-in-law Sheila Wadel (Regina, SK), Virginia Wadel (Bayfield, ON), and Georgette Ferland (Winnipeg, MB); brothers-in-law Orville Russell (Fairview, AB), and Marvin (Judy) Sachs (Hanover, ON); three children Trevor (Teresa) of Beaumont, AB, Danny (Lorie) of Airdrie, AB, and Vicki (Mike) of Regina, SK; seven grandchildren Logan Disterheft, Abbey and Mykenzie Sachs (Beaumont, AB); Nathan Turcotte, Ellie Sachs (Airdrie, AB); Nathan and Carter Hemphill (Regina, SK); one great-grandchild Theseus Embury (Beaumont, AB); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Marlene was raised in Ontario, where she met her husband Robert and had three kids prior to moving west to Alberta and Saskatchewan.  As a sports enthusiast, Marlene took an active role with minor sports organizations and showing her support for the family and professional teams she loved. Whether she was coaching a baseball team, chaperoning a dance, or babysitting kids at the rink, Marlene ensured rules were known and enforced.

Marlene loved pets, and they loved her (probably because she spoiled them). She enjoyed reading, playing cards, going to bingo, watching/coaching sports and visiting family and friends. She will be missed greatly by her circles of friends and family in Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Marlene’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 in the Royal Hotel, 4025 Albert Street, Regina, SK. There will be a short program starting at 2:00 p.m., followed by refreshments/snacks, and time of remembrance. Due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic, interment will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Bentinck, Grey County, Ontario, followed by Celebration of Life at Lamlash Hall (West Grey).

In Marlene's memory/in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospitals of Regina or to Fillmore Minor Sports (Cheques can be mailed to Fillmore Minor Sports, c/o treasurer Melissa Woodward, P.O. Box 173, Fillmore, SK., or email fillmoreminorsports@yahoo.com).

Messages:

Our condolences to your family. May fond memories fill your heart and ease the sadness. Sending you love and hugs.

Will always remember you at rink feeding us boys chocolate and burgers to keep us refereeing all those long tournaments (as we didn’t sleep the night before) but you had our backs ... Rest In Peace Marlene ...

We go way back with your Mom (and Dad). From the days spent at the rink with your Mom and all the hours you looked after my kids. Your Mom was a special lady. She was a straight shooter and you always knew where you stood and we admired her very much. She had a wonderful sense of humour! We reconnected when she moved back to Fillmore to look after Bert. We had some great meals together and lots of good visits. We will miss her as we know you will!

I was saddened to hear of my Cousin Marlene's passing. When I was 10 - 12, Marlene would come to our home outside of Galt and babysit me and my brother Michael go the entire summer and oh the fun and mischief we all had. I looked up to her and her siblings, and I have so many wonderful memories when visiting all of them in Teeswater. On behalf my Mother, Beatrice Thomas (Aunt Beatty), Michael and myself. We send our Love and sincere condolences to Marlene's family and friends. She will be missed. ♥️ Love Cathy Huddleston

Condolences to all on the loss of Marlene. We had lots of laughs with her the last few years and a nice visit early in the summer. She was a great lady!
