Agnes Peters
September 13th, 2020
Agnes was born on January 12, 1933 in Altona, Manitoba. She was the fourth child of Bernhard and Agnes Friesen. The family moved from Manitoba to Abbotsford when Agnes was young. In addition to her Dad’s regular job, the family also had a large berry farm as well as all the other responsibilities that a “hobby” farm included in those days. Many days were spent working in the fields with her siblings. When she was of Sunday School age a man passed by their field and presented both Agnes and her sister with a copy of the gospel of John. Both girls memorized the whole book while they were bored watching the cows over the course of the summer. Agnes was still able to recite some of this Gospel in June 2018. Agnes received Jesus as her Savior after her school teacher taught her the chorus “Jesus Loves Me”. Agnes was enthralled by the love of her Lord and the price He paid for her redemption for as long as she had words to express it.
Agnes was married to the love of her life Walter Peters for 63 years, at which time he predeceased her on February 1, 2016. They have 5 sons and 1 daughter who were all lovingly cared and provided for during their growing up years. The family was raised mostly in 100 Mile House. Walter and Agnes moved from 100 Mile House to Abbotsford and then to Fort St. John. About 15 months after Walter passed, she was moved to Regina where she resided until her peaceful passing into the presence of her Lord on September 13, 2020.
She will be missed by her children and their spouses as well as her many grandchildren and their spouses and great-grandchildren. We mourn her loss, but not as those who have no hope. We will see her again when we join her in worship around the throne of God.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
