Ronald Frank Rothwell

January 17th, 2020

Ronald Frank Rothwell entered his heavenly rest at age 87 years on January 17, 2020.

Ron was predeceased by his parents Frank and Katherine Rothwell, brother Wilfred (Tillie) Rothwell, and an infant daughter Margo Jan. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Manetta; children Scott (Mavis) Rothwell of Regina, Roger (Mary) Rothwell of Regina, Trent (Deanna Nielsen) Rothwell of Vancouver, and Kathryn (Randall) Brandt of Lethbridge; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Ron was born in Arcola, Saskatchewan. At a young age he started delivering groceries on his bicycle after school. By age 19 he became the manager of the local Co-op grocery store. After moving to Regina in 1953, he started working at Sears where he had a long and successful career working his way up to Merchandising Superintendent for Western Canada. He spent his final working years as the Manager of the Sears Clearance Centre. Ron married his sweetheart in 1955, and they recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Ron enjoyed vacationing at the family cottage at White Bear Lake, and later at Regina Beach. He was an active member of Faith Baptist Church. After retirement he enjoyed tending his backyard flower and vegetable gardens, yearly trips to Vancouver and Lethbridge, and spending time with family.

A private family graveside service will take place at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Soul’s Harbour Rescue Mission, or the charity of your choice.  The family would like to thank the Regina Palliative team for their support and care.

Messages:

We want to send our deepest sympathy to Manetta, Scott, Rodger, Trent, Kathryn and families on the homegoing of your husband, dad and grampa. We enjoyed Ron and he was very actively involved in the maintenance of Faith Baptist church. Thank you for the friendship we have also had with both Ron and Manetta. May the Lord's comfort be yours during these days and months to come. For us as believers it is absent from the body and present with the Lord.

Sweet memories of Uncle Ron. Rest In Peace.

Wish we might have had a chance to meet him.

Our prayers for strength are with the family at this time of sadness. Our memories will always be of his wonderful smile and friendly conversations. He will be missed.

Our hearts and thoughts are with you all at this sad time. Uncle Ron was a kind and generous man who liked a joke in good taste, a nice glass of wine, and good conversation. His tomatoes were delicious, his flower garden very pretty. He was a unique human being who loved his precious family deeply and tenderly. He will be forever in our hearts. Rest in Peace dear one.
