John Thomas Zwack

September 27th, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Thomas Zwack. John gained his angel wings on September 27, 2020 surrounded by the love of his family at home.

John was predeceased by his father Walter; sister Margaret; father-in-law Dan; and his faithful Labrador Retriever Storm. He is survived by his loving wife Gail; mother Jean Zwack; sister Pat (Tom) Mullen; brothers Garry (Natalie) Zwack, Tim (Cheryl) Stettner; daughters Carla (Darren) McDonald, Rachel (Bretten) Storey, Candace (David) Handziuk; son Justin (Sheryl) Reeder. John also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Shelby, Paige, Sydney, Montana, Connor, Ryen, Grayson, Brynnlyn, Peyton, Alyssa, Nixon, Emma and his great-granddaughter Talynn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

John held many jobs over the course of his life, most notably a butcher and an outfitter. He owned and operated Goosecreek Outfitters out of Melfort, SK. On his farm, he bred and trained many award-winning dogs. He gained many long-lasting relationships with those he guided and hunted alongside. An avid hunter, he was always willing to share his knowledge and experience with everyone. As a sports fanatic, his television was sure to be tuned into the sports channel for hours on end. John was not one to shy away from a conversation with a stranger, which was easy to see with the number of friends he made along the way. His family are not the only ones left to mourn his passing; special friends Danny, Shannon, Skipper, Jason and Jaden were some of the friendships that he cherished.

A prankster at heart, John never missed an opportunity to scare the little ones. Whether it was hiding in the bush pretending to be a bear or chasing kids around the house with his dentures in hand. His grandchildren are forever grateful for the memories he created with them over the years. He was a grandpa who enjoyed passing his hunting experiences, sharing stories no matter how exaggerated they may have been. Always cheering them on from the sidelines of their sports, he was one of their greatest supporters. He was also quick to bring boxes of timbits but just as quick to be the first to reach into the box before anyone else. The joy he had going on frozen yogurt adventures with the kids was almost as adorable as the pure joy he had on his face when he loaded his own cup full of candy, topped with perfect balance of fruit. John had a sweet tooth like no other, he was also sure to have plenty of secret candy stashes over the years.

His large candy stash was fuelled by his compulsion to shop for good deals. If there was a sale, John was sure to walk out with the maximum amount of something multiple times. If there was a flea market, he was sure to barter to the very end. He was a man who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need but quick to remind how much that shirt cost.

He may have left too soon but he leaves behind years of precious memories. John, you are forever loved and always missed. Your quirky sense of humour still lingers on in the ones you loved and in perfectly timed signs from above to help through these difficult times. You meant so much to many people, our loss is heavens gain, we will keep you close to our hearts until we meet again. Private family Celebration of Life will be held.
