Christopher Murray Owen Barker
January 10th, 1977 ~ December 7th, 2021
Chris passed from this world far too soon at the age of 44 years. Leaving to grieve his passing is his mother Donna, his sister Julie (Les), children Veanna (Neil), William and Angelique, along with nieces, nephews and other family members, cousins and friends. He will also be greatly missed by his dear friend Doreen, who he lovingly referred to as his second mom.
There to greet him on the other side is his predeceased father William James, his brother Dana James, paternal grandparents William and Florence Barker, Uncles William Owen and Loran, and Aunt Violet and Uncle Wes Wray, and Cousin Dale. Also there to greet him are his predeceased maternal grandparents, William and Marie, and Uncles Murray and Les Schoenthaler.
As a child Chris and his brother Dana had the opportunity to spend a great deal of their childhood traveling extensively throughout Canada and the U.S.A. with their parents. Their dad was a long haul semi truck driver, and often took his family with him, stopping at important landmarks along the way, like the Statue of Liberty, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Terry Fox Memorial, and many others. In short they got a geography course in real time.
When he wasn’t traveling with his family Chris enjoyed anything having to do with nature and the outdoors. He enjoyed swimming, fishing, camping, gardening, riding dirt bikes, cycling and playing war games with his brother and friends in the neighborhood.
As an adult, Chris became a skilled professional flooring installer both in the commercial and private sectors. He loved his work and was very proud of his accomplishments.
A Celebration of Chris’s Life for family and close friends will be held at a later date.
Those wishing to honor Chris may make a contribution to Bright Eyes Dog Rescue (www.brighteyesdogrescue.com), Carmicheal Outreach (www.carmichaeloutreach.ca) or any addictions program of their choice.
