Gary Belore
January 10th, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gary Belore of Regina, SK on January 10, 2021 surrounded by the loving comfort of his family.
Gary was predeceased by his loving parents Helen and Robert Belore, his late wife Lynda, and granddaughter Jessica. Gary is survived by his loving wife Jane (Powell); his daughter Kerri Fertuck (Jake Krahn) and their children Brett (Chris) and Ryan; daughter Traci Mulligan (Randy) and their children Jory, Megan and Riley; and son Robert Belore (Lisa) and their children Zachary and Marissa. Gary is also survived by two great-grandsons Weston (Brett) and Ryker (Ryan); as well as siblings Harold (Marion), Karen (Ron Gingrich), Kevin (Rebecca), Randy (Elaine), Richard (Laurie) and Chris (Lynn).
Gary was born in Tillsonburg, ON in 1949 which is where he started his first employment in printing as typesetter before joining the RCMP. In 1974 came a transfer to Toronto in a position at the Toronto International Airport as a Special Constable until 1977 when he graduated from the Training Academy of the Regina RCMP Depot. He was immediately posted to Morse, SK, bringing along a family which included two young daughters and soon after the addition of son Robert (Rob). From 1984 to 2003 Gary would be transferred four more times within Saskatchewan, with the final destination being Saskatoon where the untimely passing of wife Lynda and granddaughter Jessica occurred.
After a career in the RCMP spanning almost 31 years, Gary took the opportunity to retire at age 55. Shortly after (in 2005), he met his future wife, Jane (Powell) and moved to Regina where they married in 2012 and lived up to the time of his death. There Gary took hold of a further employment opportunity at the Training Academy of the RCMP Depot, but this time as a Public Service Employee in the Armourers Division. He very much enjoyed this work and those he met in this position, initially on a full-time basis, and then by contract. In 2014, he and Jane began spending their winters in Arizona where they thoroughly enjoyed new hobbies and activities, as well as making many new friends from all over North America. Although Gary was always flexing his handyman muscles, both at home and in Arizona, he also began developing a new later-years hobby at the community metalworking facilities in Arizona. Many of his friends and family members are recipients of his work! He also reluctantly learned the fine skill of being a supportive pickleball fan for Jane’s new competitive sport. At home in Regina, he enjoyed his gardening habit with equal fervor. He and Jane also enjoyed their travel addictions on a regular basis, not only from their home base in Regina but also from their winter home base in the Phoenix area. Although enjoying many trips around North America - from coast to coast - Gary’s travelling highlight was always an extended trip to Italy where he and Jane set out on their own adventure to visit many of the country’s renowned sites as well as many lesser-known, out-of-the way finds.
But perhaps of most importance to Gary throughout his life were his family allegiances and relationships, not only with his immediate family members but also his extended family of siblings, parental siblings, and the same of Jane’s. He was a very devoted, generous, and loving patriarch in his family, but at the same time recognizing the need for his leadership and role model skills in helping them to make their ways through their own lives. No problem or struggle overwhelmed Gary as he battled to overcome adversity whenever it faced him. Through tremendous pain and weakness, to the very end, Gary showed his courage and tenacity to his family and all of those who cared for him. Such a role model for his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and friends!
He will be missed tremendously but has made such a meaningful difference in his family and the world, and has left this earth with a full heart. Although none of us will ever know God's purpose and bigger picture of Gary’s life, we are confident that he will be welcomed and supported in God's loving arms. We’re not going to try to understand Gary’s journey - we’re just going to believe good things are part of this bigger picture for him!
A Celebratory Service will be held for Gary at a later date, to be announced. In the meantime, THE FAMILY IS REQUESTING THAT IN LIEU OF FLOWERS AS ACTS OF COMFORT, DONATIONS IN MEMORY OF GARY BE DIRECTED TO THE: HOSPITALS OF REGINA FOUNDATION, SURGICAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT, REGINA GENERAL HOSPITAL, REGINA, SK, CANADA

Jane, Kerri, Traci and Rob - we are so sorry about Gary. He was a wonderful brother-in-law to us and we so enjoyed getting to know him over the years at visits in Port Hope and Arizona and at various family functions throughout the country. While he may have been a man of few words, he certainly was a great fit in the Hochu family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Peter and Sue Hochu
