Margaret Giannetta
October 18th, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandma, Sister, Aunt and Friend, Margaret. Margaret was surrounded by close family and friends until she passed peacefully at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, Regina, SK the morning of October 18, 2021.
Margaret or as most called her “Marge” was born in Regina, SK on September 28, 1952. She loved to live life and never let a moment pass her by. She had a large personality, was very passionate about her beliefs and spoke her mind. She was generous to a fault and helped anyone in need. She had an amazing sense of humour and a way of making others around her laugh. She had a unique ability to speak with anyone, which is why she had so many friends and is why she was so loved. She had many passions like writing, cooking, music, politics, reading and traveling but she was always happiest when her family was together. Marge’s beautiful soul is now at peace and she will be so terribly missed but forever loved in our hearts.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Anthony Giannetta, her beloved parents Zofia and Baltazar Kups, brother-in-law Jim Schoenthal, and nephew Kristopher Kups. Margaret is survived by her children Michael (Diana), Victoria (Derek), and grandchildren Chloe, Nolan, Abigail and Matteo; as well as her siblings Junia (Stanley), George (Gloria), Henry (Shirley), Halina, Donna (Franz); many nieces and nephews, and special friend Darrin.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the Nursing Staff at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre for the kind and dignified care they devoted to Marge in her final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Parish Hall, 1825 Winnipeg Street, Regina, SK for family and friends.Messages:
We are so saddened by Margaret's passing and extend our condolences to her husband, Darrin, her children, grandchildren and family and friends. Margaret had so many friends in both Costa Rica and Regina - she meant so much to so many. Blair and I were lucky enough to spend a great deal of time with Margaret and Darrin in Costa Rica as well as visit in Regina. RIP Margaret and keep smiling down on everyone.
I was most shocked and saddened when I so recently heard of Margaret's passing, and what a tragic loss it must be to her family, to her friends, and of course to her dear husband Darrin, (also a close friend) who married her in Costa Rica, a lovely land she truly loved so deeply. I will never forget that just before she left Costa Rica for Canada for the last time, in March of last year (2020), she confided in me (so sincerely) in Coco Beach that her years in Costa Rica were the happiest years of her life. With a very heavy heart, I still celebrate that very special life and happy friendship, which I miss so much. Dear Margaret, you are such a dynamic, genuine, and wonderful friend who enriches my life in ways I cannot count. You are such a generous soul. You have, for me, such a funny, spontaneous sense of humour which often makes me laugh. You are so straightforward, like a graceful arrow, and you always made me feel that I truly counted for something significant in your beautiful, but tragically short life. "Margaret, we love you and miss you so much, bless you always!"
I met Margaret here in Sweet Dreams Complex , Costa Rica. We became friends and got to know each other better as she rented my condos for her family for her wedding. We had many fun times and good life talks. She expressed to me that she was so truly happy. My condolences to Darrin and her family. We will all miss her.
Condolences to the family. Margaret lit up a room wherever she was and whomever she was with. She lived life to the fullest and will be missed by many.
I did spend a month myself at Wascana Rehabilitation and got to know Margaret some. After leaving, my lady (Rita) and I would take coffee out there for some, Margaret among them. She always called Rita Sunshine, I always appreciated her positive and realistic attitude to life. RIP sweetness.
Mike and Vicki, the family was so saddened to hear about the loss of your mom. It’s so hard losing a parent. I hope you find comfort in your memories. Carani-Krauchek families

It was always a pleasure to be in Marge's company. She made people smile and feel special in her company. Please accept my sincere sympathy.
My condolences to Margaret's entire family and especially to her husband of three years and my close friend Darrin Garcia. Marge was one of my best friends knowing her since she and her first husband Tony moved to Costa Rica many years ago. Marge sharred with me many times that her five years with her Costa Rican husband, Darrin were the happiest years of her life. Until we meet again Marge you are still with me in my heart and thoughts.
My sincere sympathy to Margaret’s children, grandchildren and brothers and sisters. I loved working with her and she was a great lady. She was ALL about family. What a fire cracker!!!! and she truly brightened the room when she was present.
