Anton "Tony" Frank Hintz

November 26th, 2021

The cowboy world added another empty saddle. Anton “Tony” Frank Hintz passed away on November 26, 2021 at the age of 90 years.

Tony’s adult life was always as a cowboy, first as a seasonal rider, and then in 1954 he became the manager of the Gap Community Pasture in Ceylon, SK. This became home where he and his wife Lucille raised their three boys and two girls. After retirement, they moved to Weyburn, SK and later in life they moved to Regina, SK to be closer to immediate family. 90 years of age was a milestone not many people would have bet money on him achieving considering the number of wrecks he had with horses and his chuckwagon outfits. More than once Ma had to doctor him at home as he wouldn’t miss a race. His sense of humour was politely put “unique”. Everyone knew him as a jokester. If cowboy heaven has a horse waiting for every cowboy, Tony is now roping coyotes off “Happy” his favourite sorrel quarter horse.

The family would like to thank Regina Pioneer Village and William Booth Special Care Home for making his final years pleasant and comfortable.

Tony was predeceased by his infant daughter Joanne and grandson Dakota. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Lucille; their children Peter (Darlene), Pauline, Patrick, Sally and Sam (Kerry); his 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to William Booth Special Care Home.

On behalf of the Schiller family, we would like to say we had many fond memories of Tony and the Hintz family. One of my first snowmobile rides was with Tony. Can't remember if he offered me chariot ride or not; I'm sure he did. I've never known Tony to be without a smile, and he was never afraid to tell you what he thought. Maybe that's way, my dad and I thought highly of him. Deepest sympathies to the Hintz family.

The twinkle in his eye, sharp wit, and quick grin ….. a few things that initially come to mind when I think of Uncle Tony. A smile and a chuckle when I think of different stories. He was deeply loved, will be sorely missed. He is at peace. Sending love and condolences to all the family. May friends, family and God support and strengthen you through this time. Love you all. Kathy and Andy
