Beverly Rose Hubick

October 4th, 2021

Beverly Rose Hubick (nee Kurucz) was born in Regina, SK on September 2, 1951. At that time her mother Rose Irene (nee Bacsu) was in the hospital with MS and her dad Michael James Kurucz was doing his best supporting his ill wife and small children Kenneth and Larry.

Because of Mike’s situation, Bev was blessed to be taken in by Mike’s sister Elizabeth (Auntie Lizzie) and brother-in-law Louis Orban. She was raised in their family in her formative years; the Orbans were very good to her and throughout her entire life they were her true extended family. Bev went to live with her dad Mike and brother Larry when she was about six years old and got to know her mother during hospital visits. This overall experience impacted Bev greatly and formed her character. Until his death, Bev and her dad had an amazing bond.

After high school Bev moved from Punnichy to Regina, received education in Edmonton and Regina, began her working life and married Ken Hubick of Quinton, SK on September 2, 1972. They were married for 49 years and had two children – daughter Tasha (Ryan) Gieni and son Kelly.

Bev worked at Western Grocers, Arnold Bros. Transport and most recently at Canadian Linen and Uniform where she worked her way up to Customer Service Manager. She was very good at her job and was appreciated by her customers, colleagues and supervisors until her retirement in 2018.

In 2003 Bev became a grandmother and was thrilled to have three grandchildren Brooke, Lena and Brayden. She loved shopping for them, buying their school fundraiser junk, watching their activities and getting together for birthdays and holidays. She especially liked trips with the girls and Brayden’s hugs that were strong enough to knock her off her feet.

Bev enjoyed shopping, reading, the Saskatchewan Roughriders (once a season ticket holder), Netflix, concerts, country music and most recently the Globe Theatre. She loved to travel anywhere, as long as she could get away – camping, Craven Country Music Festival, the Maritimes, bus trips, Las Vegas, Mazatlan, and Minot.

Throughout her life Bev instilled the values of hard work and family devotion in her kids. Her role models were her dad Mike (hardworking and always put his kids before himself) and Auntie Lizzie (also hardworking and loved Bev as her own). She ensured her family was looked after - spoiling them with gifts, clothes and Costco toilet paper (96 rolls were never enough). She made sure Ken had food, smokes, and his pills. She worried about Kelly constantly and pushed Tasha to complete engineering. Her food closet was a treasure chest for Brooke, Lena and Brayden and they always left Grandma’s with jars of pickles, jelly beans or other junk food. Ryan, Kelly and Tasha just left with containers of sausage or her homemade cabbage rolls.

On October 4, 2021 Bev passed away with her children by her side. She was the centre of the family and will be deeply missed. The family sincerely thanks the staff at Regina General Hospital and in particular CCU, CSU and 3F for looking after Bev.

At Bev’s request, no funeral will be held. She will be laid to rest with her parents in St. Anne’s Cemetery in Arbury District, SK in a private family ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Anne’s Cemetery (aka Arbury Cemetery).

We hope we make you proud. We forever love you Bev, Mom and Grandma.
