Peter Ken William Osborne

October 15th, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce that Peter Ken William Osborne passed away on October 15, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents William and Audrey and his brother John. He is survived by his sister Linda (Ed); his nephew Sean (Florence); nieces Alana (Jeremy) and Kimberly (Aaron); grandnieces Chloe, Catie and Luci; grandnephews Curtis (Krissy), Tryce, Terran, Levi, Jaxson and Seamus; and great-grandnieces Grace and Brooklyn.

Peter was a kind man with a unique laugh. He also immensely loved his family and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He shared his passion with his family by taking them to local football games. Alana recalled going to a game with her uncle. He was very happy when the Riders won. In his later years, he still loved to talk about his favourite sports team.

Each holiday, he loved spending time with his family — he never missed any family gathering. Also, he was faithful in sending his annual holiday greetings without fail. Kimberley said her uncle’s card was the guaranteed one she could count on receiving each year.

Peter always wanted to fit in. For example, Sean recalled during the 1984 family trip to England his uncle developed a bad cockney accent which stuck throughout the three-week trip. Peter’s Canadian family was embarrassed with his over-the-top accent because the English relatives asked why he had such an accent. But, as soon as he returned to Saskatoon the accent mysteriously evaporated.

After he studied Business Administration at the Saskatchewan Technical Institute and Junior Management at the Reliance College of Business, he worked 15 years as a Service Control Clerk with Western Tractor Coneco in Saskatoon, SK. According to his employers Peter was a reliable, efficient and accurate worker who performed each task to the very best of his ability – which was important for his jobs including preparing weather balloons for flight and recording data for the Saskatoon Upper Air Station, gardening for the Mennonite Central Committee Saskatchewan or working administrative duties for Anderson Rental and Paving. Peter also enjoyed reading historical novels, walking, travelling and camping.

There will be no funeral or memorial service. The family respectfully declines gifts, donations or flowers.

Messages:

I have known Peter since 1965. He was a kind and honest and fun to be with. And he did have an exceptional laugh which I heard every time we were together. I have spent many, many days sitting in the living room with Peter and Audrey and Bill just talking about the things that had transpired that week or what had happened at work. Anything. What beautiful, relaxed, and happy days they were. I am so grateful to have known and been associated with Peter and his family. Peter, you will always be missed and fondly remembered. Din Wilkie

RIP uncle Peter. Thank you for being such a kind, positive and happy part of my life. You are missed.
