Jason Andrew Regnier
September 30th, 2021
Jason Andrew Regnier passed away on September 30, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. Jason had a great sense of humor, an intelligent mind, and a wild spirit. Of his many interests, he enjoyed history, sports, and music.
Jason was born on January 2, 1974 in a snowstorm at the Leduc General Hospital, Leduc, Alberta to Andrew and Vivian Regnier. In his early years, he enjoyed spending his time outside on the farm. His love for small towns and farm life never left him. Jason would always find peace and joy in the vision of wheat fields blowing in the wind.
After high school, Jason went to England to work and travel across the country for a year. In 1992 Jason attended N.A.I.T. With honours, he attained his Carpentry Red Seal Ticket. He then began a career in construction with Chandos. In 1996 he married his junior high sweetheart Trudy Walker. As the ambitious entrepreneur he was, Jason started his first business framing homes in the late 90’s. On September 8, 2000 his son Ethan Jason Regnier was born.
In June of 2007 Jason had the desire to return to farm life. He and his family moved to an acreage near Birch Hills, Saskatchewan. Farm life was busy for Jason, in the summer it was filled with dirt biking and gardening. In the winter his time was consumed with building and maintaining outdoor rinks for his son. Saskatchewan brought career changes for Jason. He taught the carpentry program at the Saskatchewan Correctional Institution. He then worked for Saskatchewan highways, making sure to never miss any interesting pieces of history along the way. Jason was passionate about knowledge and education. He always wanted to attend University and at the age of 40 Jason took classes at the University of Saskatchewan. He ended his career working as a field consultant for the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.
Jason and Trudy parted ways in the spring of 2017. In the fall of 2018 Jason moved to Regina. He continued his love for history and traveling as he explored more of the world, visiting Mexico City and Columbia. He enjoyed traveling across Western Canada watching Ethan play hockey whenever he could. Jason spent his last three years with common-law partner Sherri Vipond and her family. One month before Jason passed, he and his son got their motorcycle license together; something Jason has always wanted to do. Jason never stopped growing as a person throughout his life. As he battled through the troubles he faced, Jason always kept his family and friends close to his heart. He will be greatly missed.
He was predeceased by his father Andrew Walter Regnier and mother Vivian Norman; his sisters Julie Anne Pfeiffer and Teresa Wood. He is survived by his loving son Ethan Regnier; his brothers and sisters Wayne Regnier (Kim), Donna (Larry), Les Finnigan (Dawn), Darren Regnier and Kelly Seimens (Dave); all his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; as well as all other family members and many dear friends.
