Alan Schwartz
December 22nd, 2021
With family by his side, Alan Schwartz, passed away peacefully at the Regina Pasqua Hospital on December 22, 2021 at the age of 69 years.
Al was predeceased by his mother Hilda, his father Joseph and his sister Carol. He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Jackie; children Alison, David (Jessie), and Kelly (Devlin); grandchildren Alexis, Cassidy, Ben and Lily; siblings Wayne (Tracy) and Ken (Barb).
Al was the oldest of 4 children born and raised in Winnipeg, MB. After the untimely death of his father when he was just 13 years old, he moved with his family to Regina, SK. Al spoke fondly of his childhood despite his family going through some tough times. He creatively used skills as a musician for one of his first jobs, teaching accordion lessons. After completing Grade 12 education, Al attended the University of Saskatchewan and received a degree in Bachelor of Science. Al dedicated his career to the Information Technology sector in Regina; finishing his career at CGI where his professionalism, drive, and exceptional organizational and managerial skills served him well. This is where Al met his loving wife, Jackie, whom he married in 1979 and together they raised 3 children. Al was often referred to as intimidating due to his quiet nature and stern façade however those who knew him well saw his amazing sense of humor and observed his constant care and support. This softer side was easily observed as he spoiled the family dogs at any opportunity. Al enjoyed long walks with his wife, barbequing for family and friends, discussing finances/stocks, reading, gardening, fishing and babysitting his grandchildren. Above all, Al loved his family and was a dedicated caregiver throughout his life. His family is grateful for the time they had with him, blessed for the beautiful memories he left them with and privileged to have the skills, knowledge and stories shared by him. Al will be terribly missed by all who knew him but forever loved in our hearts.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 5020 – 7th Avenue, Regina, SK (to view the service livestream please visit: www.stcecregina.com and then click on Al Schwartz funeral). To Jackie and family. I am so sorry to hear of Alan's passing. My condolences to you all. I will always remember that without Alan's help I don't think I could have passed that first year calculus course. My thoughts are with you during this sad time.
Jackie and family, I am so sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Al and I were friends, roommates in Regina during high school, and after graduation. He was one super person and the loss I cannot imagine. We grew apart from the years as I left Regina, but I often thought of him and our great times together. For sure the world has lost a great person, and he will be missed very much Thoughts and prayers for you Jackie and the family Terry and Dorrie Owen

I was fortunate to work for Al in the early years of my IT Ops career. He was kind, fair and generous and I enjoyed many laughs with him. Rest easy Al. Jackie and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers during these sad days.
So sorry to hear of Alan's passing! He was just one very good man! I have many fond memories of time spent with aunt Hilda and uncle Joe. I remember our first trip to Winnipeg to visit them. Alan would have been about five years old! A little guy playing an accordion that seemed as big as he was! So again, they don't come any better than Al. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time Jackie and Family.
I have many fond memories of working with and for Al at CGI. My deepest condolences to all.
