Michael Paul St. Mars

December 12th, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Michael on December 12, 2021 at the age of 59. Michael is survived by his mother Kathleen (David) Schumann; father Paul (Sheila) St. Mars; his brother Raymond (Lisa) St. Mars; and his extended family of stepsisters, stepbrother, aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Michael attended university and became an Art Teacher for a number of years at Sacred Heart School in Yorkton, SK plus several other occupations (Co-op, Safeway, Liquor Board, Provincial Government, etc.) until his health failed and he could no longer work. He then continued his great talent for painting and sculpting. He handled his diabetes courageously since age 14 and spent 13 years on dialysis. The staff at the Renal Unit, General Hospital, Regina, SK became his second family. Special thanks to Dr. Prasad “Dr. K” for your care and friendship.

As per Michael’s request there will be no funeral service. A Private Family Gathering will take place to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada (www.diabetes.ca).

May the road rise to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face.

The rains fall soft upon your fields,

And until we meet again, may God hold

You in the palm of his hand.

Messages:

We extend our condolences to Michael’s family. We always enjoyed visits with Michael, appreciated his artistic talents and his kind nature. Peace to your families, love and prayers to all at this time of loss.

Michael was my cousin & I have nice memories of our summer visits in Winnipeg growing up. He was always so creative, painted pictures for our families and even did a doodle collage on a pair of my jeans as a kid. I will remember his sense of humour and send my sincerest condolences to everyone.

Worked with Mike at Victoria Square Safeway. He was a great guy and an incredible artist. My condolences to the family. Rest In Peace my friend.

To the entire family, It has been many years since we have been in touch but our connection goes back all the way to elementary school days. I was very saddened to hear of Mike's passing. Please know that I am wishing you peace to bring you comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear of Michael’s passing. Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. Love and prayers in your time of need.

RIP buddy, great high school memories.

To the St. Mars family. So sorry to hear of Michaels passing. We worked together at Saskatchewan Liquor Board while he was going to University and also when he was on summer holidays from school. His artistic talent was great to see. He was asked to paint the windows of South Albert store for Christmas. He did an amazing job. We seen Michael at supper two weeks ago, prior to his passing, and had a good conversation with him. We will miss him.

I work in Hemodialysis at the front desk plus got to know Michael in my personal life. He was wonderful to me and became a very close friend. I will miss him greatly as well as all the staff in hemo. He was so kind and generous. He lived very simply but never complained and was always doing things for others. I have many pieces of his art in my house including paintings of my cats and a black and white stencil of myself. He was actually listed as my next of kin/emergency contact at the hospital. My heart is heavy and I still hear his laugh. RIP Michael ❤️

I am a friend of Ray and Lisa. So sorry to hear of Michael's passing. One of the hardest things in life is dealing with the loss of a loved one. May you all find that, in time, the pain of grief will turn in to memories of good times shared and gratitude for the time you did share together. Praying for peace and comfort during this sad time. Love, Lesley Perry

I am a friend of Ray and Lisa and would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the entire family and the many friends who knew him. Gone way too young. May your memories comfort you through this time and may God bless all who mourn the loss of such a wonderful man. Prayers and love to all.

I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my sincere condolences to your entire family.
