Brett Charles Viddal

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Brett Charles Viddal on November 11, 2021.

Brett was born on September 25, 1967 to Charlie and Audrey Viddal at the Old Atikokan Hospital, Atikokan, Ontario and he joined siblings Kirk and Rae-Ann. During his youth he enjoyed playing baseball and hockey. He graduated from Atikokan High School in 1985. Brett spent time working in both Thunder Bay, Ontario and Winnipeg, Manitoba before returning to Atikokan and employment at Atikokan Forest Products. In 1995 his son Brendan was born, Brett was a very proud and participating parent. Brendan has very fond memories of time spent at the family cabin on Cub Lake. Brett’s proudest moment was on Brendan’s 6th birthday when he caught a 6 lb. Bass. They also enjoyed playing catch and skating.

Another one of Brett’s interests was woodworking and cabinet making. One of his projects was working on replacing the kitchen cabinet doors in his parent’s home on Pine Crescent.

He returned to Thunder Bay for retraining after suffering a work injury and was employed as tech support and at Staples. He had a big interest in electronics and was somewhat of a gamer.

In 2013 he moved to Weyburn, Saskatchewan to work for SGI Construction, Brendan joined him in 2015. Brett eventually moved to Regina, Saskatchewan and was there until his passing.

Brett is survived by his son Brendan Dupuis; his brother Kirk (Laurie) Viddal; his sister Rae-Ann (Gord) Smith; nephews Stephen (Meghan Chorney) Friesen, Dylan Viddal and Tyler Viddal; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Audrey Viddal.

Cremation has taken place with interment to follow in the spring of 2022 at Little Falls Cemetery, Atikokan, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brett’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation (https://www.heartandstroke.ca/).
