Messages:

Kelly & Dean, I will treasure the memories we had as kids of family visits to Newfoundland and Ontario. Your Dad will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to you, your families and Winnie.

Winnie, so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. Thoughts and prayers are with you from your friends at McCarthy Village.

Condolences to Dean, Kelly, and families on the passing of your Dad and granddad. May he Rest In Peace....my prayers are with you.

Many fond memories from long ago, and many miles away, of spending time with Doug, Midge, Dean & Kelly. Somewhere there's a small pond where the trout are starting to rise, and Doug is patiently finishing his cup of tea looking out over the pond. There will be trout for dinner, and many more to come home, to be shared with many more. A satisfied smile, a puff of the pipe, and a twinkle in his eye. Condolences to all who loved him and will miss him.

Midge and Doug were family, also good friends of my parents. I remember the stories mom shared about some of their antics together. My dad praised Doug's artistic ease in woodworking. Dad learned a few tricks from him as time went on. I remember the "Andy Capp" lawn ornament dad made under Doug's tutelage. There were kids birthday parties, bbq's, visits and simple family moments. Doug and Midge were wonderful people! My love and sympathy to all the family and Doug's partner.

It has been a pleasure to know Doug and Winnie and to hear the great stories of their lives in Newfoundland. We are glad you came to the prairies to share your wood working talents and be a part of our community. Rest In Peace

Doug & Winnie vacationed at my place in Brampton, On. We had a great week of food, drinks & great laughs. I visited Doug & Winnie in Regina. Again a few days of great food, drinks & laughs. Doug also gifted me with 2 pieces of his woodwork. I have those on display at my house & have always cherished them. RIP Doug- you will be missed greatly.

There’s a calm pond somewhere, full of trout. Sitting on it’s banks is a cosy cabin and within the cabin there’s a woodworking shop. And it’s filled with loved ones already passed, waiting to welcome him. Rest easy, Doug. Love and condolences to all who miss him.
