Nelson Henry Alvin Haygarth passed away peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, Saskatchewan on December 23, 2022.

Left to cherish Nelson’s memory is his daughter Roberta (Roger) Tetreault, grandsons Brandon and Colin; son Daren (Corrine) Haygarth, granddaughter Sydney and grandsons Matthew and Blake; his sisters Dorothy Brodland, Beatrice Malin, Gwen Vallee (Dell Roberts) and Sheila (Earl) Enevoldsen; sister-in-law Pearl Haygarth; brothers-in-law Jim (Maureen) Singleton, Ken (Denise) Singleton and Rob (Sheila) Singleton; sister-in-law Darlene (Dave) McCulloch; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Nelson was predeceased by his wife Marlene in September 2022; his brothers Harrison and Harold Haygarth; and his sisters Ellen Carlton and Ruth Verity.

Nelson was born on April 10, 1932 at Alameda, Saskatchewan, the second youngest of nine children, to Jim and Nellie (Shepherd) Haygarth. Nelson grew up in Alameda and attended Holbrook School and Alameda High School and then moved to Regina to attend Balfour Technical School. He then worked with Co-op and Simpson Sears in Regina. In 1969, he married Marlene Singleton and they resided in Alameda until 2018. They then moved to Regina to be closer to family.

Nelson worked in the oilfield, farmed on the farm north of Alameda and drove school bus for several years. He was a Charter member of the Alameda District Lions Club, Rector’s Warden of St. Pancras Anglican Church and Chairman of Parish Council, Greater Parish of Oxbow.

Nelson volunteered many hours in the community by being involved in the Alameda Agricultural Society and as an Alameda 4-H Beef Club Leader for several years. He enjoyed attending his children’s many activities over the years and later enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Spending time with family was very important to him and gave him the greatest joy.

Nelson will always be remembered in our hearts as a loving Dad, husband, uncle, brother and brother-in-law where family meant the world to him.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Alameda United Church, Alameda, Saskatchewan. Interment will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Paul’s Cathedral Columbarium, Regina, Saskatchewan.
