Twyla Gail Thompson

July 8th, 2022

Twyla Thompson, beloved wife of Racey Thompson, was born on Tuesday, June 25, 1957 in Ituna, Saskatchewan to loving parents Willie and Thelma (Hagen) Schultz of Hubbard, Saskatchewan. During her elementary years she attended Hubbard School in Hubbard, Saskatchewan. Her grade 9 schooling was in Ituna School, Ituna, Saskatchewan and high school was attended in Melville, Saskatchewan. Following her schooling she pursued a degree in administration at the University of Regina.

On the May long weekend of 1979, Twyla met the love of her life Racey. Together they built the home they lived in on the farm. In April of 1981 Twyla and Racey were married in Melville, Saskatchewan. Following their marriage Twyla began her career at the Credit Union in Ituna, Saskatchewan. She was employed there for 35 years when she retired in 2016. In 1984 they were blessed with their first son Jarrett. In 1986 along came their second son Kyle.

At a very young age of 5, Twyla learned to play crib and enjoyed playing cards ever since when she was able to. She lived her best life on the farm where she enjoyed her horses and sitting watching her birds while drinking her coffee in the mornings. Her love for planting gardens and having plenty of flowers out in her yard while doing hours of grass cutting was something she enjoyed on a daily basis. If there was grass to cut, she would find it. Twyla was very dedicated to watching her winter curling and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. When she wasn’t on the farm you could catch her enjoying a camping trip or travelling looking at different scenery. There was nothing Twyla enjoyed more than having family or friends come over for a visit to host and entertain them. In 2018 Twyla gained a title as ``Grandma`` to which she wore proudly and you could be sure she would share with her friends the accomplishment of her grandchildren. Her days were spent with them teaching board games, go fish, and countless hours of playing hide and seek.

Life never prepares us for the unexpected. On July 8, 2022 Twyla gained her angel wings. She was predeceased by her brother Elwin in 1986, her father Willie in 2006, brother-in-law Bill in 2006, her mother Thelma in 2014, father-in-law Harry in 1999, and mother-in-law Rachael in 2022.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband Racey; her sons Jarrett, Kyle (Alicia) and their twins Kian and Arianna; her sister Colleen Baker of Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan and her children Tammy, Shawn, and Chad (Ashley); as well as numerous extended family, friends, nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. in Wyber Hall, R.M. of Tulleymet, Saskatchewan (10 miles South of Ituna on Highway #310 South, then follow the Wyber Hall signs). Anyone wishing to bring their own chair is asked to please do so.

Donations in Twyla’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan (www.alzheimer.ca/sk).

Messages:

Twyla was one in a million. She was certainly a very lovely woman with a heart of solid gold. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I also worked for Cornerstone where I attended many courses and met Twyla. We connected as small town ‘girls’ so I always felt comfortable in her company! So sorry to hear of her sudden passing … she always spoke highly of her ‘ boys’. No words will take away your sorrow …. But know that others care and are cherishing the memories with you
