David Joseph Bale

David Joseph Bale of Regina, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2023, at the age of 90, after a long fight with liver cancer. He was predeceased by first wife Judy Bale and his son Martin Bale. He is survived by his wife Penthes Rubrecht, daughter Nancy Bake and grand-daughter Raine, son Kelly Bale, grandson David Bale, Jr. and his sister Mya Slimmon; daughter-in-law Jeonghyeon Cho and grand-daughter Erin, step-son Markus Rubrecht (MacKenzie) and grandson Coen, and stepson Dominic Rubrecht, as well as his sister, Francis Hill of Calgary and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
David was born outside of London, England on June 3, 1933. He began his dedication for education before he emigrated to Canada in 1950, where he pursued his career in Education, studying at UBC and U of A, eventually teaching at public schools and U of R and getting his PhD in Mathematics. He became a full professor of Math Education and became first Associate, then Assistant Dean of Education at University of Regina, where he spent the majority of his rewarding career, continuing teaching online classes up to 88 years of age.
David was a much beloved son, brother and family member; a highly valued friend, teacher and colleague. He was a precious husband, father and grandfather who was admired and adored for the kind, humorous, generous, curious person that he was. He loved to travel but also loved living in Regina and was a big fan of the Riders. He was grateful to have spent his last years living life to the fullest, traveling with his loving wife and being surrounded by his much loved grandchildren.
A funeral Mass and reception will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church (3239 Garnet St., Regina) on Thursday, August 31 at 11 a.m.
Following the Mass our guests will be invited to the reception in the church hall, where the eulogy and a slideshow with music honoring David will be presented. The Mass and reception program will be professionally filmed for anyone who may have to miss the funeral.
