Mom and Dad married in 1958, they had seven children. Mom’s early years were a whirlwind as she devoted herself to raising her family. Once her youngest child had grown, she ventured into the working world. However, it was in retirement that she found her true happiness. Arla was able to travel, join a bowling team, swim, and most importantly, spend time with her grandchildren.

Mom possessed a multitude of hobbies that brought her immense pleasure. She was a true master of quilting, weaving together intricate patterns that radiated warmth and love. Her knitting skills were legendary and her mittens became treasured heirlooms. If you were lucky enough to receive a pair of her mittens, consider yourself blessed.

Who could resist her baking skills with her heavenly caramel popcorn, short bread cookies, and butter tarts just to name a few of her specialties!

Mom loved games , if there were dice around or cards she would gladly play! Puzzles , reading and sudoku were some of her favourite  pastimes. Covid put a halt to another favourite …trying her luck at the Casino games she would walk into the Casino and head straight to her ‘favourite’ game some days she was lucky to leave with a win but most often she broke even.

During her final years, Mom resided in the Renaissance retirement home a place that matched her timeless spirit. She relished card nights and Bingo while enjoying the company and camaraderie of her friends.

Regardless of life's challenges, Mom would find the silver lining in every situation. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Rest in peace, Mom…..May your laughter echo through eternity, reminding us all to find joy in every moment and appreciate the beauty of a life well-lived.

To honour Mom's remarkable life, a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers those so wishing may make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Lung Association.
