HELEN RIEGER
May 27, 1932 – October 1, 2024
The family of Helen Rieger sadly announce her passing on October 1, at the age of 92. She passed away peacefully with family by her side. Helen was the ninth child in a family of twelve. Of her siblings, she is survived only by her youngest sister, Lydia. She was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and John Wilks. Helen is survived by three children, Juanita (Doug), Patrick (Karen) and Jody (Murray); eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
She very happily lived the last twelve years in Moose Jaw, close to Jody and her family. Mom was an avid reader and loved the view from her apartment, especially the RCAF Snowbirds aerobatics. Her favourite summer activity was riding the Ferris wheel at the Hometown Fair. (They always let her ride for free!) Until the very end, Mom found joy and laughter in hearing about her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and the activities in their lives.
This was found in Mom’s papers: ‘Cremation please. Don’t be sad. Celebrate my life. Have fast, snappy music at my service. I’ll be watching, don’t drop me, I’ll know! A jar isn’t heavy you know. Ha-ha! All my love and Blessings to you all.’
Mom, we’ll miss your smile and ever-present laughter.
A private family gathering will be held.
