Dear Alice and family, We always took pleasure in seeing Mr. Macaulay come to our dental office. He was a gentleman in the true sense of the word. Hugh always tried to make people feel happy and when he left the office, we would all have smiles on our faces. We will miss him and our condolences to you and your family. Dr. Marit Rumm and staff at Semiahmoo Dental
Alice & family, I am so very sorry to hear of Hugh's passing. Please except my deepest condolences.Hugh was a wonderful man. I have many fond memories. Our thoughts are with you.
Thinking of all of you and your dear Dad & husband. What a kind person he was, with such a wonderful sense of humour. Here's hoping all your very best memories are close to your hearts - right where you need them. With Love, Jane & Andrew
Dear Mrs. Macaulay, Hughie, Iain, Don and families, We were very sorry to learn of your loss and send our heartfelt condolences to the MacAulay clan. I will always remember Mr. Macaulay (it’s hard to call him Hugh, having learned to address him that way in childhood) as a very kind, intelligent man with a quiet and endearing sense of humour. He was genuinely interested in other people and had a polite, respectful manner that is unfortunately all too rare nowadays. He was clearly an excellent parent (and I’m sure grandparent) as he made sure to instil these qualities in the next generation of Macaulays. We will be thinking about you today and over the coming weeks and months and wishing you well in this difficult time. Peter Milley, Sue and Ben
Dear Alice & Family, Please accept our sincere condolences. We fondly remember our times together filled with laughter and will miss our wonderful friend deeply. Charles & Vanda Evison & Family

Dear Alice and family, We were so very sorry to read of Hugh's passing. While this is a very difficult time for you, remember all the happy times you had together as a family. Thinking of you at this time.
Please accept my deepest condolences. I will always remember his kindness when upon returning to Vancouver after my first year of university in Montreal in 1982, he gave me a job at the Coquitlam car shops as a labourer. I'm not sure if there was ever a need for another labourer at the facility, but he gave me the job anyways. I will always fondly remember him for that. I will be thinking of you on the 29th. Bill Patterson Oakville, ON
Alice and Family: We are deeply saddened by the passing of Hugh. Please accept our deepest condolences at this time of sadness. Margaret and Lindy Larsen.
I have fond memories of Hugh, someone I've known socially for a number of years. He had a gentle and caring personality, showing an interest in all that he met. I'll miss his conversations at our Men's Club, and I know that he'll be missed greatly by Alice and family and friends.
Alice: Our condolences and prayers on the sudden passing of Hughie. While not close, we remember with fondness our meetings through Rita and Ron Fyffe. Love and God Bless .... Bill & Bonnie
Alice, such a sad thing to happen just before Christmas. We had such a lovely talk with Hugh just a short while ago and he sounded so well.We will miss him,but know his faith has brought him to a better place.thinking of you and praying for you!!!
I was Hugh's secretary at CP Rail back in the late 70's and he was the best boss by far. I still use the ceramic bowl he gave me, as a Christmas present, one year at work. He was a wonderful man and my deepest sympathy and condolences to all the family. Maggie
