Jack John Schandl
July 13th, 2013
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our gentle giant, Jack John Schandl. Jack left us peacefully on July 13, 2013, at the age of 83. Jack was born in 1930 in the rural community of Greencourt, Alberta, the eldest of two children. He was predeceased by Helen (Koufalexi) and Margaret (Churches). He will be greatly missed by sons, George, Cristo and Jack Jr. (Fiona); grandchildren, Tara (Steve), Aiden and Ethan; great grandson, Evan; sister, Eleanor Rook, her children Brent and Wendy, great nephews Corey and Brandon; and his companion, Pat Litchfield. He will also be missed by his brother in laws: Cliffe, his children Cindy, Christine, Sandra, Diana, and Cliffe Jr, and Gordon (Wylla), his children, Kari and John, and all of their families.
Jack had many friends across the country that will miss him dearly.
Jack was a proud father, as well as a wonderful father in law, brother in law, grandfather, uncle and a friend to many. He will always be known and missed for his passion for flowers and gardening. As an avid sports fan, he loved watching the Oilers, Canucks, Expos and BC Lions.
Jack’s career working for Via Rail, in Montreal, PQ, spanned from 1963 to 1990. He subsequently returned to BC to enjoy his retirement years.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services, 3070 275A Street, Aldergrove, BC. The service will be broadcast live on line. Dear Family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss. Jack will be "Forever in our Hearts." We were so blessed to have him come to Alberta at different times and take the time to be with us and my mother. We will cherish those times forever. Thanks Jack. We love you. Art & Irene Hickey
