Peter John Hayfield

With deep regret, we announce the passing of Peter Hayfield, 67, of Surrey, BC.  Peter lost his hard fought battle with an aggressive form of lymphoma and died at Peace Arch Hospice with his beloved wife Mary-Ann at his side.  Peter also leaves to mourn his children, daughter Emma Hayfield (James Hunt), granddaughter Annabelle and son Tristan Hayfield, all of England, Peter’s stepchildren, Stephanie and Ronald Bassett, Peter’s mother Jean Burgess, his brother Paul Burgess & wife Cheryl, along with numerous family members and a plethora of friends.

After 33 years of service to Ford Motor Co in Windsor, Ontario, Peter retired in 2009.  He was Chairperson of the CAW Local 200 Environment Committee and served with a variety of community and work related environment groups.  He was instrumental in the growing popularity of the Greater Essex Regional Children’s Waterfest which so far, has heightened awareness of the conservation and preservation of water for more than 50,000 children.  Peter’s accomplishments include much work on the Little River Watershed, planting many hundreds of trees, building bird and bat boxes, resurrecting the Yellow Fish Road.
