Hilda Paulsen
November 11th, 2017
Hilda Paulsen, a long-time resident of the Surrey B.C. area, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Saturday morning the 11th of November 2017 at the age of 88. She was residing with her sister and friend Kay Wedel at the Arbourside Court Retirement Suites at 13751 74th Ave, in the community of Newton. She was content with her life and was at peace with the thought that her time in this world was coming to an end.
Born in 1929 in La Glace Alberta, to parents Gerhard and Katharina, Hilda was part of a large family of 7 children. In 1936 she moved with her family to a small farming community in Black Creek, Vancouver Island.
Along with husband Gordon Paulsen (1926-2002), they started their own family in Surrey in the early nineteen sixties. She is survived by her two sons Norman (wife Robin) and John (wife Deb) and their families whom she exchanged warmth and joy with throughout her life. She was the proud grandparent of four cherished grandchildren Erika, Ashley, Erin and Justin.
Hilda was a devoted Christian and attended Johnston Heights Church on a regular basis. Even during her later years when her mobility became more challenging, she continued to enjoy her meetings with the Golden Agers Group from the church.
A celebration of Hilda’s life is set for 3 p.m. Saturday, January 6th at Hope Community Church located at 18625 Fraser Highway Surrey, B.C. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to one’s charity of choosing would be preferred.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.
