Sandro Colasacco

February 25th, 2018

With heavy hearts we announce Sandro’s passing after a year and a half long battle with head and neck cancer.

Sandro was born and raised in Timmins, Ontario. Upon graduation from the University of Western Ontario he fulfilled a lifelong dream of joining the RCMP. While training in Regina in 1986 he met his future wife Linda. They married in 1988 and have two children, Greg (24) and Lia (21). Sandro had a long and successful career with the force, serving as the Superintendent in charge of criminal intelligence for the province of BC upon his death. In 2005 he graduated from Royal Roads University with an M.A. in Leadership and Training.

Sandro was fiercely devoted to his family and proud of his Italian roots. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his parents, Battista and Elsa, sister Tina, niece Alexa, Zia (aunt) Dema and Uncle Don along with many other beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be missed also by Linda’s large family, including her parents Vi and Ed and her brother Allan and his family. A large circle of close friends also mourn his loss.

Sandro will be remembered for his strong work ethic, sense of humour, storytelling and listening skills and his keen interest in and knowledge of a wide variety of topics, especially pertaining to military history and politics. He loved good food, good wine, travelling, staying physically fit and being outdoors (as long as yard work was not involved).

The family would like to extend sincere thanks for the kind and compassionate care provided by family physicians Dr. Connie Ruffo and Dr. Jatinder Tiwana, surgeon Dr. Donald Anderson, the staff of the BC Cancer Agency Fraser Valley Centre, Dr. Hannah Nette and the rest of the staff at Inspire Health, Dr. Lindsay Adrian ND, Dr. Sonia Tan DTCM, Dr. Paul Klimo, and finally Dr. Andrew Collins and the rest of the staff and volunteers at Peace Arch Hospice who made Sandro’s final days so wonderful. Special thanks to family friend Dr. Mildred Chang for all the medical advice and assistance she provided.

Please contact a family member or RCMP colleague for details regarding Sandro’s celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations to Inspire Health Supportive Cancer Care Agency, Ride2Survive or Peace Arch Hospice in Sandro’s name are greatly appreciated.

Messages:

I was a troop ahead of Sandro-he was in Troop 7 and I was in Troop 6 and had many common friends and colleagues as a result. Sandro was highly intelligent, successful at what he turned his hands to, and supportive of troopmates. I remember 1986/1987 as if it were yesterday and Sandro was part of that. His family and friends must have been very proud of his many accomplishments. May God bless and keep him. RIP .

Sandro was a mentor, a friend and a colleague. Thank you for your kindness and your indomitable enthusiasm. You are missed.

Dear Linda, I am so very sorry to hear of Sandro's passing. I did not know Sandro on a very personal level but what I did know of him, I liked. He was a genuine and likeable person. I feel so fortunate and truly honoured to have met such a fine man. My heart aches for you, Greg, Lia and Sandro's dear parents. My thoughts have been with you all. Cindy Anderson (Optometrist)

Our hearts were saddened to know of Sandro's passing. During our time with Sandro, we saw how he was a man of honour, strength and dedication and he had a kind, gentle and loving soul. Our thoughts go to Linda as well as to Greg and Lia. We were so happy to know Sandro.

I hope Sandro’s family finds comfort in knowing that he led a life of honour and integrity. His commitment and courage inspired others and made the world a safer place for everyone.

Dear Linda, I was shocked to hear of Sandro"s passing. My heart goes out to you, Greg and Lia. Although I did not know Sandro that well I enjoyed chatting with him and knew he was a good and kind man. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your family from myself, Philippe and Natalie. If ever we can help with anything at all please do not hesitate. Diane

Sandro. You are sorely missed. You were a great mentor during my junior years as a new Mountie. You touched many with your cheeful, upbeat and indomitable spirit and attitude. To Linda, please know that you and the children are in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for sharing him with all of us. Rest in peace brother. Ka-sing and Kam Ng. Surrey, British Columbia.

I met Sandro while he was a rather new member of the Richmond Detachment and I was working with the Vancouver Police in the 1980's. We would cross paths numerous times over the next thirty years. A fine man and a true professional; always wanting to get the right thing done! Your genuine smile and greetings will be missed. John Grywinski

Linda and family, it is with a very sad heart indeed that I offer my deepest sympathy and condolences for your loss. Sandro impressed everyone he met with his commitment to honesty, integrity, professionalism, and his family. He was a pleasure to work with, to commute with, to have coffee with, to interact with in any way. I can echo all of the comments made about him here. Sandro was the epitome of the true Mountie and a pure friend. He will be missed. All the love, prayers, and support to you and your family.

My deepest condolences to both families. You will be in my thoughts and prayers, during this difficult time. Kelly Quinn (Timmins neighbour and friend)

Sandro was a man with so many fine qualities, it was a pleasure to be in his company. Initially brought together by our sons friendship, Sandro & Tom took the boys on their first “coming of age” BC hunting expeditions exploring the world of doing ‘manly things’ together. This resulted in some wonderful dinners & outings with Linda & Sandro over the years. Friendships & good times to be treasured. Sandro will be greatly missed by us all. Much love & condolences to Linda, Greg, Lia & the extended family. ❤️

My heartfelt condolences to all of the Family. I only met Sandro once at his nieces baptism, but our conversation will stay with me forever. May God Bless you and your Angel will always be with you!

Sandro, I miss you my beautiful nephew. Thank you for the beautiful jokes and pictures we shared over the years. May you Rest In Peace. Love, Uncle Greg

Sending love and hugs to Sandro's family. Sandro was blessed with a wonderful family and the ability to follow his dreams and fulfill them. Thanks for the memories Sandro...A&W drive-in lunches in your dad's green car, setting the tent on fire roasting marshmallows and working together at the shoe store. Rest in peace my friend.

We are so saddened to hear of Sandro’s passing. Just the other day Les and I were reminiscing about people we knew in highschool and Sandro’s name came up with his big beaming smile and kind ways. He was a bright star. Our deepest sympathies to all his family, colleagues and friends.

Linda, my heart is breaking on hearing the news of Sandro's passing. It has been a number of years since we worshiped together but i will always remember what a blessing your whole family always has been to the church. You and your whole family are in my thoughts and prayers.

My most sincere sympathies to the Colasacco family on their recent loss. I remember Sandro when he served with Algonquin Regiment, B Company in Timmins where he was a good comrade and good friend. It's amazing how when you lug heavy backpacks and dig a few fox holes together you tend to develop a bond of some sorts. He will be missed tremendously.

Sandro was one of the really good ones - always wise, considerate, values-driven, dedicated, and kind. He was highly sought after in the Mounted Police - initially as a member of various teams and later as a senior team leader, and he made every team a much better place. Sleep well my friend. You will be sorely missed.

My childhood friend, neighbour....so sad for his loss...

Dear Sandro's Famiglia ♥ We had a lot of "Fun times" at Timmins High School. A Wonderful Friend. You will be missed. ♥ Thoughts and Prayers. Sorry for Your Family's loss.

It was with a heavy heart I learned of Sandro’s passing. I served with him in Richmond and was proud to call him a friend. He was a fine police officer as well as a good man. My condolences to his family and friends.

Sandro was an amazing man who gave everything one hundred percent to first off his family, friends and of course his amazing career in the Mounties. I am proud to have known Sandro in all of these realms in life. He made us all better people with his humour and enthusiasm I always loved the hug and smile he would give me in the halls of Green Timbers as we collided many times on the 6th floor going to meetings. Love and hugs to everyone who will celebrate his life together. Unfortunately I am in Winnipeg and won’t be able to attend but will be their in mind body and spirit. Xoxo

Famiglia Spina

My condolences to all the families and people affected by Sandro's passing. I am a better person for having him pass through my professional and personal life. Rest in Peace.

I am so sorry to hear this aweful news. My heart breaks for you all. Sending you love and prayers. Xo I’m feeling much like your minister friend; with only four letter words and tears right at this time. We met in New Hazelton in 1995. I am thankful for the fond memories we shared.

My condolences to Sandro's family, and friends on the loss of a great guy. I had the pleasure of working with Sandro when I transferred to Richmond from Fort McMurray in 1987. We would often talk about Ontario, as I was from Nipigon, Ontario. Sandro was always a pleasure to talk and joke with.

We are thinking of you all at this difficult time.

We have never met anyone quite like you who could immediately walk into a room and become friends with everyone. We will miss you.

Our deepest sympathies to the Colasacco families. You remain in our thoughts and Prayers.
