Ronald Bryce Cumiskey

August 25th, 2018

Born the oldest of seven boys to Gwen and Bryce Cumiskey, in Vegreville, Alberta, lived out his life in B.C., on the coast as dad loved the ocean with all his heart. Survived by his two brothers Allan and Bry; his five children: Debbie (Ken), Janice, Bob (Robin), Casey (Dania) and Orin (Ali); 9 grandchildren: Cole, Celine, Hayley, Holden, Kai, Ayla, Evie, Sloane, Harlow and one great-grandchild Nixon.

Dad was married twice to two wonderful women, Jenny and Beverley. He loved watching all his kids and grandkids especially in sports and his favourite pastimes were sports, golf, fishing and more sports. When asked what would be your favourite holiday to go on dad, dad replied “Going to the five Major League Baseball parks during spring training and watching the pros train- now that would be a great holiday!” He spent his working career firstly working on the trains and then his life career at Malkin and Pinton Industrial Supplies. He was part of six people who were the operating group of 11 company branches. Dad’s final wishes were to retire on the ocean and in true form he accomplished this feat, building his final home right on the bay in Gibsons, B.C. Dad loved that place. He became a great walker there and all of Gibsons knew him well from his daily 5 -10 mile walks, even taking the neighbour’s dog. Sadly, Alzheimer's got the better of you dad, but you were proud and stoic right to the bitter end. Until we meet again may you Rest in Peace, forever in our hearts.

Messages:

Hi Debbie and Janice: This is a voice from the distant past when we were neighbors on Regan avenue in Coquitlam. I just read the obit for your Dad and while very sad to hear of his death, it also brought back many memories of our times decades ago when I would marvel at his love of sports ( especially baseball). It was a long time ago that we would sit in your backyard and read comic books with your Dad urging us to get up and play ball- always with a twinkle in his eye and mischievous grin. Thinking of you guys at this tough time, Sue Paish
