Werner Armin Hansler
March 30th, 2018
Was released to the Lord on Good Friday, March 30 at the age of 91. Vern was born in Switzerland and immigrated to Canada. Werner worked for B.C. Tel for over 40 years. Upon reflection of his life, Vern was grateful for his many blessings of a beautiful wife and family, a good job and then a 30 year retirement. He enjoyed golf and taking it easy in retirement. In his younger years, he took his sons on hikes and adventured throughout the Fraser Valley, Howe Sound, and Lighthouse Park. Although Werner was not Catholic, he would still take his young sons to Mass to honour the commitment that he and his wife made to raise the boys with the faith. He was predeceased by his wife Catherine. Left to mourn are his sons Curtis and Paul.
“To love is the most holy, most beautiful, most precious thing we can possible do in our life. True love is born in God and finds no repose except in Him.” –Monsignor Louis Gaston De Segur
We have many happy memories of the fun times spent with Vern and Kay and the telephone gang over a long span of years. Vern's dry sense of humour coupled with his sense of modesty at his painting accomplishments endeared himself to everyone who knew him. One of his early boat paintings has been hanging in our living room for many years (although predictably, he said it wasn't his best work) We wish that we bought more as his talent progressed. Our recent visit to Vern accompanied by our sister and brother-in-law moved him to tears and little did we know that it would be our last. Our condolences to his sons.
