Fernande Montpetit
May 26th, 1928 ~ March 27th, 2020
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Fernande Montpetit (nee Martineau).
Fernande is survived by her husband Bernard, daughter Marie Antoinette , son in law Dan,
grandson Serge & his partner Evie, sister Marie Antoinette, brother Louis (Sherry), brothers in law Roger(Germaine) & Tony, sisters in law Alice, Leona, Madeleine, Lucienne & Agnes, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews.
Fern was born in 1928 & raised in Legal, Alberta on a farm. She married Bernie in 1950 and they lived in Vimy, Edmonton, St.Albert, Morinville ,Moose Lake & Legal in Alberta. In 2001 they moved to Victoria, BC where she so enjoyed walking in the beauty of nature & “la belle aire fraiche”. Maman was deeply devoted to her family. She was an accomplished pianist and loved to accompany Bernie as he sang. She enjoyed sewing, baking, especially “sugar cut outs, finskas & donuts”. Every opportunity to be outdoors was taken & she had plants everywhere, roses being her favorite. Music filled the air in our home & she loved the opera, symphony & ballet. The weather & events were recorded daily on a calendar. She loved to travel & while Bernie preferred to stay home, she enjoyed trips to Europe with her daughter, son in law & grandson. All animals were her beloved friends & many people commented that if possible in a second life, they would want to return as one of her pets. Maman was a quiet, private woman with a deep faith in Jesus, the Blessed Virgin, Ste. Therese de Lisieux & St Antoine; setting up little altars & often found in prayer. She was a night owl, relaxing while watching television & always had CNN on in her kitchen during the day while she flitted about like a little humingbird.
Fern was tiny but mighty!
Those of us who were fortunate enough to bask in her love will always feel her presence and she will be greatly missed.
Bernie, Toni & Dan

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Aunt Fern. Our condolences to all.
So very sorry for your loss Uncle Bernard & Antoinette & family! Never easy to loose a mother Antoinette- I know how profound your loss is- I will always cherish the time I spent at your home when we were kids ! Take comfort in knowing that she finally is in God’s loving arms!
Dear Antoinette and Family, We were saddened to hear of Fern’s passing. She was a wonderfully kind and gentle soul. As our neighbours across the alley, I was privileged to know all of you as a child and at one point even took piano lessons from Fern. I’m sure I tried her patience at time due to the lack of practicing my lessons! (Dan). We often walk by two of their former homes here in our neighbourhood, and think of you as we pass. Our deepest condolences, Dan and Linda
Our deepest sympathies to you Toni, Dan, Serge and Evie. What a blessing your mom was. Her large smile and warm hugs made us feel so welcome. Loved hearing her still playing piano at 91 years old. Her great health was remarkable. May she enjoy eternal life with Jesus, Mary and all her saintly friends. We will make music with her and uncle Bernie again one day. God bless you in this time of sorrow. Love and prayers, Ger and Pat.
Our thoughts and love fly to you all. We are saddened bu the distance of being yet so close. Much love Paul William and Kieran
