Alan Peters
January 7th, 2021
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Alan Peters surrounded by his family on January 7, 2021 after a brief illness. Alan was predeceased by his mother and father Theodore and Martha Peters, and his brothers Larry and Robert Peters. He will be missed dearly by his wife Sonia, children Melanie (Martin), Shawn (Kristina), his three grandchildren that he loved dearly Kaitlin, Landen, and Rylan, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. He is also missed very much by his dog Drake, who was always by his side. He was a devoted husband and Dad and an amazing Papa to all of his grandchildren. He welcomed everyone with open arms and treated them like they were a part of the family.
In 1978 Alan married Sonia, the love of his life. Al’s strong work ethic and desire to take care of his family led him to a career with CN Railway where he continued to work for almost 30 years. Everyone who knew Al knew that he would rather give than receive. He was a man of sacrifice and would do anything to see his family happy. He coached many years on his sons ball hockey and ice hockey teams, and was very well respected by all of his players. His favourite hockey team was the Boston Bruins and he always loved Number 4 Bobby Orr. Al truly enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play sports, dance, sing in concerts, and perform in plays or musicals. He never missed a game, dance recital or swimming lesson, and loved to play jokes on and tease his grandkids just so he could see them laugh and smile. Family vacations to Disneyland, and Alberta, camping trips, fishing trips, BC Lions football games, and Canucks hockey games are just some of the fun times we shared. He loved his Tim Hortons coffee, and would never turn down an Apple fritter. He could dance an awesome polka, loved all Superheroes, (although Batman was his favourite), and loved to relax with family and watch some of his favourite TV shows like Andy Griffith, Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons, and King of Queens.
Al provided countless lifelong memories for his wife and children, their friends, and extended family members that we will cherish forever. We love you so much. To the world you may have just been one person, but to us, you will always and forever be our superhero.

Al was a wonderful man. He was always very kind, respectful, and humorous with me. One of the greatest admirations I had for Al was his love of his children and grandchildren. And even if a child wasn’t his grandchild, he treated them like they were and could call him Papa! I’ve missed seeing Al and of course bringing him a coffee.
Well it’s so hard to believe. Just gone way too soon Al. I could not have asked for a better brother in law. You were amazing with my kids. And with their kids as well. Such a heartbreaking loss. You will always be remembered with so much love and affection. Rest In Peace Al and know that you were so loved by all who knew you.❤️
Uncle Al, You were such a gentle soul. Many many family memories with you I will treasure. I will always remember fun filled visits full of laughter. RIP❤️ Love Cheryl

Papa you where a amazing papa you are a great man and everyone who knew you would agree with me you are a great dad, uncle, brother, friend, and papa. Thanks for Marrying grandma and having auntie Mel and dad or I wouldn’t be here I can still remember the day you and grandma came to babysit me so this is the story: kk was on the phone With her friend so me and grandma and papa went upstairs to my room and then papa started making a song and say Sonia likes the white macaroni so I went and got kk and papa kept saying it and everyone was laughing even KK’s friend it was so funny. Also this is another story papa would always go in this big floaty in the pool so he would get in it and I would go in mine but when I got out papa couldn’t get out his feet where to short so I had to tip him and then a few days later he went in the big floaty again and when we where done I got of my floaty but papa couldn’t and I said do you want me to tip you and he said no but I get why he said no because I had to do it lots of times tipping him so he said I can do it my self and I said no you can’t your lags are to short but he just kept trying to the point he said just tip me out of here it was so funny. Also I can remember this story to so I got out of the pool one night and grandma was inside so papa got close to the latter but he go stuck so I was laughing and papa said Son son help I am stuck call the fire department so grandma came out side and we tried and said suck your belly in and we pushed papa said just call the fire department but we kept trying and then we got him out it was so funny. I miss you papa dearly every day you where a big part of my life I love you to the moon and back. Love Ry
