Margeurite Reta Irene Revane

Reta Revane (nee Scotter)
Born April 8, 1927, in Pincher, Creek Alberta
Died May 5, 2022, in Abbotsford, British Columbia
Reta passed peacefully at Menno, Terrace East where she spent her last 6 years enjoying her daily walks, she was 95 years young
By the time Reta was 17 she had lived with relatives, in Cardston, Waterways & Lethbridge Alberta, Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, Saltair, Victoria, New Westminster BC. In 1949 she met Tom, married in 1950 living in Vancouver, Surrey, Rosedale, Abbotsford BC.
Reta was very involved with the School PTA, Corpus Christi Church & Bazaars, Victoria Drive Little League & Softball Leagues and enjoyed going to the Victoria Drive Hall dances. In late 1960 & early 1970 Reta was politically involved by canvassing for the Federal Liberal Party being asked to go to Ottawa. While the province would have been a different place, Reta chose her family over politics.
Reta spent the working years of her life in bookkeeping/administration rolls and (as mom would say) slinging hash at Scott’s café. Mom was editor/columnist for a Vancouver community paper in the 60’s. When not working outside the home she was busy baking; her most famous Christmas fruit cake, bread, doughnuts, nuts n bolts & much more; mom was a great cook-she always said she was the chief cook and bottle washer.
Predeceased by her husband Tom, son Scott, daughter Alana, Reta is survived by sons, Jon (Karen), Kevin, Michael (Gaby), daughters, Luana, and Karan. 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren & many extended family & friends.
Many thanks to Menno Terrace East staff for the care given our mother in her last years.

Thanks mom for instilling morals, good work ethic, ability to get along with most people and be trusted by friends and on jobs and even to look after my apartment building when managers had to go out of town. You passed on your wicked sense of humour and sarcasm. Those who put down sarcasm are too thick to get it. I loved your humour and sarcasm. Although I never got your talent for bread and baking, appreciated yours. Friends have enjoyed my innovative meal making, again attributed to your talents. Happy you are with your husband and 2 of my siblings. Will see you again in a few more decades. Love you mom.
My Condolences to the family of my dear friend/tenant Reta. Reta was a fire ball and I loved being able to spend time with her at TE. Reta was in chronic pain for the past few years of her life but that never stopped her from going to see her husband every day when he was here or from taking her walks around Menno Campus. I loved that I was able to help Reta by rubbing her down with P3 cream and having a few laughs together. Reta I will miss you so much and I’m happy that you are now at peace with Tom again ❤️. I will be so happy the day I get to see you again in Heaven. RIP my friend! Love Jocelyn
I’m so very sorry for your loss. What a full life Reta had. RIP Reta ❤️
So sorry for the loss of your mom. She was a wonderful woman. Always loved the bread. She taught me to make candles at Christmas. I made many. I spent many nights staying at the house with Karan. So many beautiful memories. Rest in peace Reta.❤️
