Wilfredo Consuelo Sismundo
October 29th, 2022
He was born to parents Amada and Jesus Sismundo on September 21, 1942, in Talisay, Camarines Norte, Philippines. Wilfredo moved to Canada in 1966 and married the love of his life, Teresita, the same year. He is survived by his wife Teresita, his daughters, Jessica, Amy and Lynn, his sons-in-law, David, Steve and Marty and his grandchildren, Zoey, Nyah, Noah, Matteo, Graysen, and Xavier.
He will best be remembered for his irrepressible sense of humour, for his love of music and, above all else, for his dedication to his beloved wife and their family.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C.
Messages:
Auntie Tita, Ate Jing, Ate Amy & Lynn and all your families, to you my deepest condolences. I wish we could be there for you but take, for now, our thoughts and prayers.
Dear Kuya Dodo, This is my second letter to you.The first one was when you went for a cursillo weekend before you came to Canada. Mama and Daddy wanted to ensure you were grounded in the faith before you tread the Canadian soil, far from their reach and influence. Thank you for your example in loving and honouring our parents. One memory that impressed me was when you endorsed to Mama the entire amount of your very first pay check. After our Dad passed away, you took over the patriarchal role. You sponsored Mam and the four siblings we refer to as group 2 ( Zony, Job, Vida and Annie).Nene and I followed 1 & 2 years later. That was a very generous and I’d say bold move Kuya Dodo. I don’t know how you and Ate Tita managed a very full house. Thank you for helping all of us to come to Canada, and making our transition to our new country easier and filled with happy memories What I will always remember Kuya Dodo, and will surely miss is the way you say goodbye when we leave your house after a visit. You walk us to the door, to send us off, and stay there , your gaze lingering, until our vehicle is out of site, even on a wintry day. Good bye for now Kuya Dodo, or shall I say so long, for I know I will see you again. Love, Toni PS Ate Tita, Jing, Amy and Lynn, I don’t have the right words that could assuage your pain and grief, but the God of all comfort does : 1 Corinthians 15:50-56 , 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 , and of course the beloved Psalm 23 to name a few are God’s words we can go to for comfort, hope and strength. Presently, I can not offer you physical help but rest assured I am holding you all in prayers before our Heavenly Father. Toni
The unexpected passing of Kuya Dodo was shocking. Just a few days prior, my wife and I visited Kuya Dodo and Ate Tita sharing some stories and laughter. My memories of him starts when I first arrived in Canada. He welcomed me with open arms, and free board and lodging for many days until my wife and I found a place to rent. Whenever he is free, he would provide us with transportation. He introduced us to many of his friends. When we wanted to join his family for a trip to New York, he traded his small car, Toyota for a bigger car, so we can all be accommodated. We had several fishing trips to Georgian bay with Rudy Badian, Art Nitafan, and sometimes Flor Basilio. Those long trips were quite enjoyable , even if the catch is minimal. May you Rest In Peace Kuya Dodo. We look forward to our reunion someday in our heavenly home that God prepared for his believers.
Condolences Auntie Tita, Ate Jing Jing, Ate Amy, Lynn. Uncle Dodo was a very important role model for me, especially as the only uncle in the same city. Growing up I remember him always being kind, calm, relaxed, organized, and always so quick with the jokes. The vibe he exuded was always grounded and wise, but gentle and patient in the way he spoke to people. I was always so impressed how peaceful and orderly the energy was at your house, and how my cousins were all such good daughters. Testament to a happy household and a close family. Hosting the best karaoke sessions, all the tito’s loved belting out the Sinatra, but you gotta admit, Uncle Dodo’s My Way always brought down the house! I’m sure Uncle Dodo’s in Heaven now, singing his heart out all day.
I know this is a hard time but we are holding you in our hearts. Wishing a wonderful celebration of Uncle Dodo’s life and legacy.
To the Sismundo Family, Auntie Tita, Amy/Steve, Lynn/Marty, Jing Jing/Dave and all the kids - through this difficult time, our hearts are with you. We are so sorry for your loss. Even in the sadness of his departure of the earthly realm, the one thing that shines through is the memory of Uncle Dodo’s smile and infectious charm. He was a true original. His zest for life, his sense of humour, his disarming manner was truly special. It takes a sharp wit to be able to crack his jokes at such a masterful level! I remember when he visited Toronto last, he found a comfy corner on our patio and serenaded us with some Sinatra in the sticky summer air. I believe somewhere out there, he is doing that right now with a twinkle in his eye. Let the memories of how he lived be your buoy in this deep sorrow. We will miss you Uncle Dodo. Love Lena, Dean and Riley Kai
My heartfelt condolences to Ate Tita and family. I share your sadness in the sudden passing of Kuya Dods. He was the quintessential older brother, always looking out and being supportive of his siblings. We will all miss him.
Dear Kuya Dodo, I wish I had gotten more time with you but the short time I knew you I learned great respect. However, I got to know you through this process hearing and reading all the wonderful things about you from my new family. Rest In Peace and my deepest condolences to Ate Tita and the entire Sismundo family. Love, Danny Thompson
My dearest Kuya Dodo. You will remain in my thoughts and heart eternally. You were my surrogate father whom I lost when I was a very young child. In a time when we all needed the support and encouragement, you filled those shoes and guided me and my older siblings with great responsibility and for this I’m forever grateful. You leave us with a most special family member, Ate Tita - the matriarch who not only supported us but also taught us sustainable ways that we had not yet learned in the Philippines. I am greatly saddened by the grief I’m sure Ate Tita is enduring but as a family, we will support and take care of her as you would have hoped. To Ate Tita, Jing, Amy, and Lynn, my brother loved you more than anything. My heart goes out to you and your families. Please remember that our family is strong and we will get through this together. Kuya Dodo, I will always love you and we will all be together again one day. Love, Annie
Kuya Dodo has made a difference in our lives and I am so lucky to have had him as my big brother. Our father passed away too soon and he took the role of being the patriarch of the Sismundo family at a very young age while at the same time raising his own family. Kuya Dodo, while it will never be the same without you not being here physically, we are celebrating your life as an amazing husband, father, grandfather and of course a big brother. To the people you left behind including us, your 6 siblings, no amount of words can make it easier to bear your absence but I'm sure we will find comfort in each other. Rest In Peace, Kuya Dodo. Love from Nenen
To Ate Tita, Jing-Jing (David), Amy (Steve), Lynn (Marty) and the grandkids: I am truly sorry for the loss of Kuya Dodo. Sending much love, thoughts and prayers as we deal and navigate this sad time. My happy memories spent with him will always be etched in my heart.
Rest in peace Uncle Dodo. There were a lot of great things about Uncle Dodo, but one of the best was the way his laughter and smile would light up the room. He had a way of putting everyone at ease. Although I lived on the other side of the country and only saw him every few years when growing up, I always enjoyed seeing him and appreciated how great of an Uncle he was. It was nice watching his grandkids and family grow in recent years, as he became the patriarch of the family. He will be missed!
Sending our love and condolences to the entire Sismundo family. Uncle Dodo was a great man and I will always remember him for his warm, generous smile and non-stop jokes at family gatherings. May you find comfort in all the wonderful memories. Rest in peace Uncle Dodo.
Condolence Ate Tita and Family. May the Good Lord grant him eternal rest and perpetual light shine upon his soul. May the Lord give you and your family comfort and consolation in this time of your difficulties. You and your family will always be in my prayers. With love and prayers, Dolor
My deepest sympathy to you, Tita and your family. My prayers are with you.
Tix and I are extremely saddened by my dear Kuya Dodo's unexpected passing. Rest in peace Kuya Dodo. You have made a huge impact on me despite us always being thousands of miles apart for most of my life. You were a fantastic father, a loving husband, a genuine, well grounded, sincere, honorable and dependable brother. I can only hope to be like you. I will miss you.
We are saddened for the passing of Wilfred. Our deepest condolences to you Tita & the whole family. May God blessings, you'll find comfort @ this time of your sorrow. May he Rest In Peace . Prayerfully, Wilma & Family
My sincere Condolences.
Rest In Peace to my eldest uncle on my Mom's side, who we affectionally referred to as Uncle Dodo (WilfreDo SismunDo). My maternal grandfather passed when my Mom was 19 so I never had the opportunity to meet him. My Uncle has been the patriarch of our family since I was born. What does my Uncle mean to me? More than you would imagine. My Uncle had great impact on my life. He was the first to immigrate to Canada from the Philippines for a better life and better job opportunities. He led the way for the rest of his 6 siblings to follow. As a result, I (along with the entire extended family) have had the benefit of being born and raised in one of the best countries in the world, in terms of diversity, opportunity, education and safety. When I was little I spent a few summers with him and his family. He always treated me well and took me and my same-aged cousin Lynn (his youngest daughter), to the mall everyday to relieve our whining boredom. He never complained and he accommodated with a smile. He made me feel loved while I was on an extended trip away from my parents. Fond memories I have of my Uncle include his entertaining and wonderful singing voice. Back in the day, he loved to sing karaoke and the classic song that always makes me think of him is My Way, by Frank Sinatra. Thank you for everything Uncle Dodo. Wishing my Auntie Tita and 3 cousins Ate Jing Jing (Jessica), Ate Amy (Amy) and Lynn , as well as the the entire Sismundo clan (Aunts, Uncles, Sons-in-law, Grandchildren) a sentimental and fond jog down memory lane in the coming weeks. Love, Audrey, Tony, Ross, Abbey, Hiro and Poppy Colantonio XO
Zony and I pass our deepest condolences to Kuya Dodo’s family. Zony remembers Dodo as being a big brother she could always rely on. We both remember him as a very warm and friendly person who loved his family and friends. Those who knew Dodo are blessed with many treasured memories of him, most of which involve his great sense of humour and lots of laughter. RIP Dodo. We wish Ate Tita strength during this time and we know that her wonderful family will be a source of comfort.
I am very sad to hear of Wilf's passing. I remember Wilf very well. A warm and very kind man. May the Lord give His Blessing upon Him. As well as to the wonderful Sismundo Family. May the memories be a comfort to all.
We would like to pass on our condolences to the Sismundo family. Uncle Dodo was a wonderful man with a great sense of humour. I hope that those lucky enough to call him Dad, Husband or Grandpa can remember all the good times they shared with him over the years to get through this difficult time. You are all in our thoughts.
Sincerest condolences to the entire Sismundo family. I always enjoyed seeing Wilf and family when we got together in Toronto. May all your wonderful memories and photos bring you comfort during this time.
With sincere condolences! May God's peace and comfort be with you and family during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.
To the whole family left by Uncle Dodo, our sincerest condolence. I've seen that Uncle Dodo has lived a good life and believe that he is in a better place now-no more suffering and just pure happiness in the presence of the Lord. Praying that Auntie Tita is well. Rey & Baby Gonzales (daughter of Sylvia de Jesus)
Our prayers and deepest condolences to the bereaved family. May he rest in eternal peace. From the Canuto Family
Uncle Dodo, I will miss your laugh, your twinkling eyes and broad grin. You were forever concerned for us happy to advise us, pushing us to be successful. I will always remember when you shared your love of comics from younger days - heartening for me then and a feeling that continues today. Keep the Karaoke on, up there... we'll sing again soon.
