Derek M Bridges

On the morning of March 28th, 2023, Derek M. Bridges passed away in his home in White Rock BC at the age of 86 with his wife and his son at his side.
Derek was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, one of four brothers. He then spent most of his adult life in Calgary, where he practiced law and was very involved with the Theatre and in the life of Knox United Church.
He and his wife, Cathy, loved biking and exploring the world and travelled extensively (the Geriatric Gypsies) especially after retirement. In 2009 they moved to White Rock, BC where they enjoyed immensely all the beauty of the west coast.
The heart of his life and of our family was the cottage on Tetrault Lake near Eureka, Montana. That’s where the happiest memories were created for over 40 years and where he will return.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy, of 42 years; by his children Scott (Angele), Lisa (Taylor); stepchildren Karin (Matt), Greg; grandchildren Tayler, Makenna, Porter, Ryan, Aidan, Danny & Charlotte and two great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brothers, Don in Toronto, and Alan in Ottawa, as well as extended family. He was predeceased by his brother, Geoff.
He will be remembered especially for his strength of will and character, his sense of humour and his quick wit.
Rest in peace dear Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, Brother, Brother-in-Law, Uncle and Friend. You are in our hearts forever.
