Kayla Magen Lomas Patterson (Brown) – Dec. 5th, 2023, Age 42.
It is with broken hearts we must share that we have lost our beautiful Kayla in a terrible car accident.
Kayla was a loving mother, daughter, sister, auntie and friend to so many. Kayla’s 2 daughters, Tarra and Lexus Lomas were the absolute center of her universe. Her daughters were her pride and joy. Kayla spent her life in and around Langley Township. One of the greatest passions of her and the girls was Synchronized Figure Skating. Kayla first took to the ice at age 4 with the Aldergrove figure skating club and spent many, many years growing up there. Once her girls got started skating Kayla’s passion was reignited. She could be found most days at the rink with the girls and their teams. Kayla was team manager and team Mom to so many, always making sure everyone was looked after and no one ever went hungry. She also went back to skating on her adult teams and was happiest on the ice. Lower Mainland Synchronized Skating Club became another large part of her skating family.
Kayla had a number of different careers and the last few years she worked in film. She loved the casts and crews she got to work with. The long hours never bother her as she was a hard worker and loved what she was doing.
Kayla packed a lot of life into her short time here and most of it with her girls. From Europe trips with the girls and their schools to many trips all over Canada for skating competitions. Vacations to California with her former spouse Rob Lomas & her in-laws for more family. She spent many years of her youth traveling across Canada with her family on West Coast Amusements. Many hiking and camping trips on Vancouver Island with her grandmother. Road trips and camping with friends.
Kayla had a smile that could light up any room she entered. She had a huge personality and a heart to match. She will be so missed by so many. All of us that knew her know there will never be another Kayla.
Kayla is survived by daughters, Tarra and Lexus, Mother, Bunny Waddell (Graham), Sister, Becca Hargreaves (Andrew), Brother Jay Patterson (Kim) former spouse Rob Lomas, Grandmother, Carole Waddell, FIL, Kenneth Lomas, SIL, Stacey Lomas (Cisco), 7 beautiful nieces, many uncles, aunts, cousins and of course the cats, Nala, Norman, and Nora. Predeceased by her father Floyd Patterson, and sister Deborah Richman.
As per her daughter’s request Kayla will be laid to rest with a small family internment. There will be a celebration of Kayla’s life in January for her many family and friends. Time and place to be announced when it is confirmed.
You my beautiful girl have left a hole that can never be filled. We love you so much.

I so remember beautiful Kayla and her beautiful smile when our girls were so young and skated together in Aldergrove. A few years ago, two young girls in skating dresses caught my eye with their mom and I recognized Kayla right away, it was that smile!! The young girl that I used to know still shone through now as a proud parent, passing the torch to her daughters. It’s an enormous loss. She was a kind soul and a bright light in the world. My girls remember her as one of those universal moms who took kids who needed her under her wings.
Rest in Peace my friend. Still hard to believe you have left this world so soon. You join some of our synchro sisters in the stars and I know you will be watching over us all, especially your girls. You were one in a million ❤️
Beyond heartbreaking for all who loved and knew Kayla. She had the biggest heart and brightest smile that never seemed to dim even on the most difficult days on set. I’ve had the honor of working with Kayla on a number of Hallmark movies and her loving enthusiasm for her work, family and life were unfailing. She was always there when you needed her to tackle any task and always there to lend an ear and helping hand . It’s rare that you find someone in our industry that you can always count on - and Kayla was just that rare someone. She was the anchor of my “comfort circle” on set and I will miss her warmth and her contagious smile . My prayers and thoughts are with her beloved daughters and family❤️

I remember Kayla well when Tarra and Lexie were at Coghlan. She always had a big warm smile and there was no doubt her girls were the most important part of her life. I am so saddened to know her life ended so tragically and much to early. My love and hugs go out to Lexie and Tarra❤️❤️

I had the absolute pleasure of taking Kayla on two tours of Europe with her wonderful daughters (and unfortunately having another one cancelled due to the covid lockdowns in 2020). She was a joyous presence always and with everyone.
A beautiful soul taken too soon. I had the pleasure of meeting Kayla and her family through Coghlan Elementary. There Kayla was a dedicated and active mom.as well as on the soccer field and beyond. I hope with time you all can find comfort in the memories and love that you share of Kayla. Kayla’s smile, laughter and joy of life impressed upon many. May her legacy live on through her beautiful children.
I am so saddened to hear of the loss of Kayla. She was such a fixture at Coghlan Fundamental Elementary where both of our kids went to school. My thoughts are with her family, especially her beautiful children. Such a great loss.

I still can’t believe this terrible news. I will cherish the wonderful talks we had at work (film) travelling back and forth, to and from set. She always talked about her girls and I would talk about my boys. Proud Mamas. We could relate on so many life experiences and deep issues, then break into fitz of laughter! I will miss seeing her on Set. My sincerest condolences to all.

Beautifully written Bunny, she was 1 in a million and we had so many good moments, so many great years raising our girls. Kayla gave me the greatest gift ever, fatherhood, I can see her in Tarra and Lexus every time I talk to them. She loved those girls more than anything else. I also hope your up there with all our other angels smiling down upon our beautiful daughters. You did good Kayla. I got this. I promise. ❤️

I think the hardest part of losing someone isn’t saying goodbye But rather learning to live without them and always having to fill that void Our thoughts and our love are with you and your family.
This is a tough one, She had a twinkle in her eyes like no other. I hope Floyd has been playing all her favorites up there .

Kayla was an amazing person ,she was so fun to hang out with in high school, always knew how to make people laugh ,I always enjoyed watching her and her skating partners on the ice before our early morning hockey practices in Aldergrove.
