Deonne Jett Cochran
November 28th, 2023
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Deonne Jett Cochran November 28, 2023, at the age of 22.
She will be lovingly remember by her mom Julie, dad Shane, sister Jaiden, grandparents Art & Jackie, Linda & Hermod, aunts Jenni, Monique, Danielle, uncles Mike, Stephan,John, best friends Andrea & Kiyomi, numerous cousins & second cousins, great aunt Robin & great uncle Ray, close friends Kelly, Terry, Olivia & Liam as well as and her pets Moshie, Oliver & Lucy.
Deonne was pursuing her dream of becoming a journalist while immersing herself in her love for art, anime, language learning on platforms like Duolingo, and her ambition to travel and see the world. She had recently travelled to Australia where she adopted a koala bear, went skydiving, hiking and visited endless miles of beautiful beaches. Deonne was learning how to read, write and speak Japanese for her next adventure.
Deonne had a beautiful soul who cared for others and was registered as an organ donor. She was able to help 5 others have a better quality of life (2 being life saving) through the BC Transplant society.
The South Surrey/White Rock Minor Softball Association has started a scholarship in memory of Deonne Jett, a vibrant soul who tragically lost her life to mental health illness at the young age of 22. Through the establishment of this scholarship, the South Surrey/White Rock Minor Softball Association aims to honor Deonne's essence and assist a young athlete who mirrors her commitment, leadership, and love for softball and education. This scholarship not only commemorates Deonne's legacy but also stands as a guiding light for future generations to pursue their dreams with the same passion and determination that characterized her extraordinary life.

Let us unite in compassion and empathy for those struggling with mental health issues. It is incumbent upon us to foster understanding, offer support, and eliminate any stigma that still exists.
