Henry (Henk) Numan, Jr.
October 3, 1941 – April 6, 2023
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our dear father Henry (Henk) Numan on April 6, 2023 at the Granville Hospice, Vancouver, B.C. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Aileen (Aja) on December 6, 2011, whom he first met while in kindergarten in the Netherlands. They became lifelong inseparable partners in a wonderful marriage of more than 47 years.
Henry was born on October 3, 1941 in Hylaard, the Netherlands, and immigrated to Wyoming, Ontario, Canada with his family in 1952. After high school, Henry followed in his father’s footsteps and studied to become an Ordained Minister, eventually obtaining his Masters of Divinity. He attended Calvin College and Calvin Theological Seminary, completing his studies in 1964. The day after his college graduation, he married Aileen and together they served churches in Peterborough and Brockville, Ontario, as well as in Vancouver, Abbotsford and Coquitlam, British Columbia and in Lynden, Washington.
Henry genuinely loved people and had the gift of making everyone feel they mattered. He cared deeply, was very generous, kind-hearted, devoted to his family and deeply rooted in faith.
Henry is survived by his daughters: Michele (Kim); Nicole (Glen) and Yvonne; grandchildren: Geoffrey, Bradley, Ethan, Elyse, and step granddaughter Angie (J.M); step great grandchildren: Dylan and Brynnlea; sister: Ena; brother: Fred, and many dear extended family members. He is predeceased by his parents, Henry (Sr.) and Alice Numan, his brothers, Gerard, Gerry and Ralph, and his sister, Leida.
A memorial service will be held at the New Westminster Christian Reformed Church, 8255 13th Avenue, Burnaby, on Saturday April 29, 2023, at 1:00pm.

So sorry for your loss—Heather and I just found out today. I only knew Henry for a few weeks when our lives intersected at VGH but he often had lots of visitors which always brightened his day. I figure someone who was surrounded by loved ones like that led a life well-lived! I’m sure Henry will be missed.
A beautiful and fitting service for a beautiful man. We were blessed to have had him touch our lives. Our sincere sympathies to his treasured girls and their families.
Wishing you condolences with the passing of Henry. We were privileged to have him as our pastor who was ordained at Cephas CRC. Bob and Dorothy.
We were blessed to have a friendship with Henry & Aileen and miss them both. They cared deeply, knew how to love & encourage well. We thank God for them both, and pray His strength & grace over his children & grand children etc., understanding how he will be missed. We thank God for the assurance that the family and all who knew Henry & Aileen will see each other again, united with our Lord & Saviour
My condolences to you three lovely daughters of Henry and Aileen. They were such lovely neighbours and I will miss them both. Sending love and warm wishes for your whole family. They are now together again in heaven. May all your fond memories keep them alive in your hearts. I am so sorry I missed Henry's funeral. I was taking care of someone for 3 weeks in Surrey and couldn't get away. ❤️
