Rhoda Jennie Scott
February 12th, 2023
May 12, 1931 – February 12, 2023
Our dear mother, nana, grandmother, great grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Ridge Meadows Hospital. Predeceased by her husband of 69+ years, Allan, her mother, father, sister and brother (Edna, James, Betty and Nelson). Survived by her children, Rick, Jim, Leisa (Mike) and her grandchildren, Allan (Santana), Aleisha (Shadow), Holly (Danny), Mackenzie, Danika (Matthew) and 6 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters, Sylvia, Virginia and Beverley and their families, as well as many other family members and friends.
Rhoda grew up in Nova Scotia and moved to B.C. when she married the love of her life, Allan. They lived in several communities, Burnaby, Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, and Victoria. They spent many years enjoying their cabin up Indian Arm and then camping in their RV. During their retirement years they travelled across Canada and the USA several times, often wintering in Arizona and spending their summers on Vancouver Island. When travel became too difficult, they settled at Tapadera Estates in Harrison Mills and later at Sunwood Retirement home in Maple Ridge.
Rhoda always enjoyed friend and family gatherings. Planning and preparing big meals and treats for all to enjoy was her specialty. She will be lovingly remembered for her big heart and willingness to help others, family, friends or the many volunteer groups she associated herself with over the years. She felt blessed to have met so many wonderful people throughout her lifetime. Rhoda was a treasure to all that knew her and will be missed by those left behind.
The family would like to thank Dr. Little for her care, compassion and kindness. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence to the family’s online obituary at www.myalternatives.ca
Messages:
So sorry to read about the loss of your Mom & your Dad. I have such wonderful memories of them both when we lived on Lobb Ave. I loved babysitting you, Rick & Jim & then Leisa. Your family was a big part of my childhood. Love & my sympathy to the 3 of you, Carolyn
So many happy memories of Rhoda. Always a welcoming hostess. Was impressed as a teenager when Rhoda quit smoking then saved her cigarette money to buy a dishwasher. Way to go, Rhoda! I hold Allen and Rhoda dear to my heart. Patty
We were so fortunate to have enjoyed Rhoda’s friendship for many years. We were also blessed to have had her and her family as our neighbours for twenty plus years. These years leave us with many wonderful memories. Our condolences to Leisa and her family and brothers Rick and Jim.
We were so fortunate to have Rhoda & Allan as friends and neighbours for 20 years when we all lived at Tapadera. The “Happy Hours”, Rhoda’s dinners, Allan’s sound advice. Wonderful memories. Our condolences to Leisa, her family & Rick and Jim.
