Margaret Christine Rowan (nee Crow)

June 28th, 1940 ~ July 31st, 2024

Margaret Christine Rowan (nee Crow), passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024, at Melville Hospice in Surrey.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Gordon, of 57 years and her brother, William Crow. She is survived by her children, Susan Werboweski, David (Mia Shields), and Andrea (Remi Dube); and her grandchildren, Kristjana, Haiden, Gabriel, and Benjamin.

Margaret was born in Winnipeg and enjoyed summers at Grand Beach at the family cottage. She was a gifted athlete in high school, playing on many of her school’s varsity teams. Margaret was also an accomplished singer, earning a trip to Wales with her school choir.

After high school, Margaret completed her nursing training at Winnipeg General Hospital, graduating in 1961. She moved to Roxboro, Quebec, in 1965, where she and Gordon raised their family. Once the children were older, she began working at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Pointe-Claire. In 1999 Gordon and Margaret relocated to Langley, BC to be closer to family and enjoy their retirement.

Margaret was very active in the church throughout her life and was a member of First Lutheran Church, Winnipeg; Christ the Redeemer, Dollard-Des-Ormeaux; and Shepherd of the Valley, Langley, BC. She was a powerful force in the choir in each of these congregations and served and volunteered selflessly.

Margaret enjoyed many hobbies and always kept herself busy. She was a quilter, sewer, square dancer, skier, gardener, camper, and maker of Ukrainian Easter eggs. Gordon and Margaret enjoyed extensive travel, including international trips and cruises.

Margaret was a caring friend and neighbour, always helping others. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her legacy of love, dedication, and service will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Margaret to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia alzbc.org.
