Barbara Chisholm

May 29th, 2024

1937 – 2024

It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful wife, mom, grandma, great grandma. “Mumsy” passed away suddenly but peacefully at home on May 29, 2024, at the age of 86.  Born in Togo, Saskatchewan to loving parents, it was evident from a young age that Barbara had an extraordinary gift of music.  She was an accomplished pianist, organist, and choir director and used her gift to bring joy to others.  She moved to Vancouver in her early 20s and started her long, successful career at CIBC, juggling career and family with unending energy.

Barbara married the love of her life, Jim, in 1984 and their love for God and love for each other for almost 40 years are a testament to others.  After retirement, Barbara and Jim moved to Blind Bay where they immersed themselves into the community, making countless close friendships that endure today. They moved back to the Lower Mainland, settling in Cloverdale where they have lived for the past 8 years.

Barbara is pre-deceased by her parents Walter and Ethel Krupp, her brother Wilfred, first husband Robert, and oldest son Don.  She is survived by her dear husband Jim, brother Arthur (Gloria); children Curtis (Sharie), Roberta (Randy), and Cameron (Randi), as well as her grandchildren Don (Stacy), Mary (Wade), Jacqueline, C.J., Jesse, and Taylor.  Mom was delighted to become a great grandma two years ago to James and George whom she adored and with whom she spent many joyful hours.

We will miss her infectious smile, hugs, huge heart, loving kindness, generosity, and “spunk,” as well as her homemade shortbread, butter tarts, and “hooch.”

Rest in peace, Mom.  We know you are in your heavenly home with the Lord.

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:26)

“Jesus said, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” (John 11:25)

Celebration of life to be held at a later date.
