Steven Davidson

March 6th, 2024

With sadness, we announce the death of Steven Davidson (1949-2024) of heart failure on March 6th, 2024. He is pre-deceased by his mother, Christian Davidson and survived by his wife, Iris, his sons, Tim, Jordan (Dorcas), and Luke and his sister, Frances (Dave) Matthews and brother, Grant (Irene) Davidson.

Although Steve came to Canada 54 years ago, he still called Scotland home and valued the large extended family and friends he had in Arbroath. Steve spent most of those 54 years in the lower Mainland working on the railway as a machinist. A passionate runner/walker and soccer enthusiast, Steve developed many decades long friendships along the way. If Scotland wasn’t playing, he always cheered on whatever team was beating England. His sense of humor will be missed. Proud of his Scottish heritage, he destroyed the spell check on all his phones and computers using his version of Scottish vernacular. He loved watching his sons play soccer and hockey of all sorts and missed it terribly when they were too old to require a parent to drive them. He was a constant friend and loved to organize get-togethers and celebrate.

Steve died at Surrey Memorial Hospital after a twenty-year battle with heart disease. As he chose to donate his remains to the UBC school of medicine, there will be no formal funeral. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on March 20th, 2024 at Georgie’s Local, 250 Columbia Street, New Westminster at 1:00 PM till 4:00 PM. Please come and toast Steve’s life. Bring memories.

Thank-you to all his friends who have sent love and support to the family. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Surrey Food Bank or Doctors Without Borders would be appreciated.
