Susan Lorraine Hart passed away in Calgary, with family at her side on Monday, September 08, 2014 at the age of 62 years. After a long and courageous battle with breast cancer Susan was called to her eternal home in heaven.  Susan was born in Edmonton, Alberta on June 03, 1952 to James and Gloria; both parents predeceased Susan who was the eldest of 5 children. 

Susan is survived by her children; Troy Allen Busch, Tracy Allana Rebelato, James Richard Stanley Metcalfe and, John Justin (JJ) Beck. In addition, Susan leaves her siblings; Maureen and Laura Lee, Jim and Michael.  Susan is also survived by her grandchildren; Tyler, Ryan, Chloe, Jaedon, Liana and Tarryn; as well as nieces and nephews; Gordon, Jim, Jeff, Madison, William, Andrew, Michaela and Kadin.

Susan’s life was destined to be filled with song and dance. Her family remembers that in 1958, she danced the “Highland fling” in a performance for the Queen in Vancouver BC.  Susan will be remembered by many students of the Hart Dance Studio that operated in Calgary for 2 decades.  And, in the 1980’s and 1990’s she brought her love of teaching children’s dance to Trail and Penticton BC. 

Susan was well known in the dance community as a teacher, mentor and adjudicator for competitions in Alberta, British Columbia and the Pacific North West.  Later in life Susan’s career moved to retail management working for Staples in the Leduc and Lloydminster Alberta stores. Although she changed careers her love for young people remained and she continued to be a mentor for the many youth and adults that considered Susan the, “go to person” for all things.  She held the respect of her colleagues and senior management until the day that she left her sales manager position at the Lloydminster Staples to transition to the final chapter of her colorful life.  Susan continued to love the arts and inspire those around her even in difficult times. Many of her dance students went on to perform professionally on stage and teach in Canada, the USA and Europe.   

A Celebration of Susan’s Life will be held at
