It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank “Frankie” Andrew Kehoe. Frank took his final breath Dec 8th 2015 in the ICU of Foothills Hospital surrounded by his family and peacefully died in his daughter’s arms.
Born April 22nd 1939 in Louisbourg, Nova Scotia, Frankie was the baby of the family, the son of the late William and Marcella [Kelly] Kehoe.
Frank was a gypsy at heart, wandering all across Canada. With a knapsack and his thumb, it was not uncommon to open your front door and find him standing there smiling, having just hitchhiked across thousands of miles. Frank worked in Kelowna, BC as a cable technician and Calgary, AB for KLS Construction. After his forced retirement due to his first heart attack in 2011, Frank filled his life with many adventures. He was an avid cribbage player, entering tournaments all over Calgary, sometimes even winning. If you called Frank (and managed to catch him home) he would tell you he was just heading out to “visit his fans”. He loved his volunteer work from selling poppies for the Legion to collecting for the Christmas kettles for the Salvation Army and helping at the Calgary Stampede. Frank “acted” in many movies filmed in the Calgary area as an extra. Some of his favourites were Cool Runnings and the Lonesome Dove Series, but the highlight of all his movies was You Know My Name. Frank was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion all across this country. For the past 12 years he has been with the Bowness Branch 238. Frank spent his life enjoying people and making people laugh. He loved bringing happiness, big adventures and laughter.
Frank leaves behind his children Shannon, Kelly and William. Being a Papa was his favorite role. His Grandchildren were his pride and joy and could do no wrong. Missing him dearly is Kayla, Aydan, Brendan and Brianna. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Frank also leaves sisters-in-law, Theresa Kehoe and Anne Kehoe, and brother-in-law Doug Beebe.
Besides his parents, Frank is predeceased by Brothers Stanley, Raymond, Buddy (Gregory), Gerald, Michael and Lawrence, as well as the matriarch of the Kehoe family Margaret Talkie Walsh, Frankie’s sister who often said he could find humor where there was none.
His family will take peace this holiday season in memories of his humor and laughter.
As per Frank’s wishes, his ashes will be returned to Cape Breton, NS. His children and grandchildren will take him home in the spring. Anyone who knew Frank would know he would never want go home in the winter.
Condolences to the family can be sent to 4694 Browns Rd. Port Hope, Ontario L1A 3V8.
Love you dearly and you will be greatly missed. You will always be in my thoughts. Your companion. Deb
