Edward John Grochmal

Edward John Grochmal of Airdrie, AB passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the South Health Campus.  Born in Lamont, AB to Stanley and Anne Grochmal on September 27, 1941, he was fourth of five siblings.  

Ed is survived by his wife Jenny (Lawrence) of 48 years.  They had two children - Peggy Grochmal (Palle Frisk) and Cindy Duffield (Lee).  Ed was loved and admired by his three grandchildren - Skye, Hannah, and Rebekah.  He is also survived by four siblings - Emily (Larry) Worrell, Grace (Steve) Matlo, Bob (Marilyn) Grochmal, and Mary (Bryan) Hughes plus many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Ed lived most of his life in Airdrie.  He started many successful businesses in town as well as worked the rigs for many years.  He owned and operated Lone Pine RV until his retirement in 1996 when they moved out to Sundre and began travelling to Arizona and BC.  He moved back to Airdrie in 2005 and continued travelling.

A special heartfelt thanks to his sister Mary Hughes, and husband Bryan, and sister-in-law Lou Nail.  Our gratitude also goes out to Doctor Gye and all the health care personnel providers at St. Theresa Covenant Care.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Parkinson's Association of Alberta (102, 5636 Burbank Crescent, Calgary, AB T2H 1Z6).  A Celebration of Life will be held on January 13, 2018 at Woodside Golf Course (525 Woodside Drive NW, Airdrie) starting at 2:00 pm - everyone is welcome.
