To Diane and family: sorry to hear of your dad's passing, also sorry to hear your dad spent his last days in Calgary, where I now live. I would have surely loved to have visited him. I would just like you to know how important he was to me, when he hired me, as a young teenager to work at Gibson's in Drumheller. I got the job because my mom knew him as a young man when she worked at the Delia hotel in the 30's. He would sometimes visit my mom at the Wayne hotel and on one of the visits your dad mentioned he needed a young fella to do odd jobs around the shop and my mom mentioned that I was available. I eventually went on to set up and repair farm equiplment (with "Hap Day"), sweep the floors, keep the furnace running, do accounts receivable and work as a part time partsman. The last job, I eventually parlayed into my very last job before retirement as I got great job as a partsman at Burnco Rock Products in Calgary, as a direct result of the experience gained at Gibson's. Your dad was one of the most wonderful men I ever got to know, and if you do have any kind of memorial service for him I would dearly love to attend as Bob treated me "just like family". Very Sincerely Rick Dayman (rickdayman@hotmail.com 1-403-242-6225)
A beautiful person, loved by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I am saddened by the passing of Bob, as a friend, a cousin, & one of our last WW II vets. My deepest condolences to Wilma, Nora, Muriel, 'Freddy' and (especially) Don. He will be missed. However, I can say that MY life is richer for having known Bob! - Ron
