In Loving Memory of Mervin Sefton Porteous

August 19, 1947 – October 10, 2026

Mervin Sefton Porteous, aged 79, lovingly known as Merv to family and friends, passed away on October 10, 2026. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Merv leaves behind his beloved spouse, Leanna, his daughter, Sheila (Shawn) his son, Darryl (Deanna) Jarrod and Shelby.  His granddaughters, Kelsie (Matt)  Taylor (Geno) and his cherished great-grandchildren, Justin, Lucas, Kali, and Zayne.

Merv had a passion for NASCAR racing, and if you knew him, you knew you could often find him at Agassiz Speedway, enjoying the excitement of the races. He also loved camping with his family, making memories and enjoying the special moments spent together.

One of Merv’s greatest qualities was that he always made time to help family and friends. He was someone people could count on, always willing to lend a hand when needed. His generosity, kindness, and willingness to be there for others were part of what made him so special.

Merv leaves behind a lifetime of memories, a family who loved him dearly, and friends who will miss his presence. The memories of family camping trips, days at the racetrack, and the countless ways he helped those around him will be treasured for years to come.

Merv will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered by those fortunate enough to have shared a part of life's journey with him.

The races will keep going and the cars will keep circling the track, but our world will be a little slower without him.

Rest easy, Merv. The checkered flag may have fallen on your final lap, but your memory will keep racing in our hearts forever.
